Always inconvenient, but it sounds like you got your money's worth out of that AGM.

Did you ever throw it on a battery tender to top it off?

Waiting 10 years to replace any battery is inviting failure, usually at the most in opportune time. 10 years is a good run, hell 5 for a lead acid is admirable these days. Around the 4-5 year mark, the first time I get a slow crank, new battery goes in. Out of curiosity, you running the higher amp GM diode?

I never had a hard start. I would see my volt meter start to draw I knew, with my truck not being started for a few day's it would not start. All my light still worked just not enough to turn it over. Oh I should of maybe replaced it but it never would die.

I have a solar charger that lives in my Tundra. Since the truck sits for long periods of time the batteries just wouldn't last. With the charger the battery is always being topped off. I did have to modify a cigarette lighter outlet so it always has power. I plug the panel's charger into the outlet. When I use the truck it's just a simple matter of taking the panel off the dash and unplugging the charger. The worst thing you can do for a battery is let it get low and then charge it using the generator on the vehicle.
