Hey all you aftermarket head unit fans i need some input.
I have a Secaine Android 8 headunit. Its the 4gb x 64gb octacore unit for the 2nd gen tundra. It has been great for almost 2 years with absolutly no issues. I use my phone hot spot to wifi to the headunit for internet. I turn on hot spot on phone and press wifi and wala. 4 days ago the wifi button would not turn on. i click it and it goes imediatly back to off. So i tried a few things. reset network settings tried to connect= nogo. disconnected battery for 2 minutes to allow discharge=no go. So then i tried to usb and bluetooth teather = no go. Radio will connect via bluetooth and usb but no hotspot from phone.
i am thinking that the internal modem in the radio is dead as it acts as the network adapter.
I have ask around if the usb modem and router dongles will work around this issue. I DO NOT want a sim card for the radio especially1.jpg 2.jpg when i have the phone that used to work. But im thinking or maybe hoping that it could act as the network adapter and allow me to hot spot the phone to it and fix the issue.

    Help Guys..

I would go to manufactures website, and see if there s a firmware update for your specific headunit. 2 years sounds about time for update. Sometimes functionality disappears as tech changes and firmware updates can sometime fix issues like this.
Edit: I searched seicane website for firmware updates, and it has nothing. Considering you have version 8 android headunit, and they are currently selling version 10 headunits, imo, it doesn t look promising. Also what version is your phone? That may be causing issues also as your phone is presumably always updating, but is your headunit?

    Have you try factory reset?
    Wipe dalvik
    Wipe cache

I run a galaxy s9+ with current update. The factory reset is my last option. I have flashed many computers but i will have to do some digging to find an update for this radio. I was looking at trying one of the px5.

Yeah, it can be scary. But it can be done. I've done it multiple times before on previous android phone and older android radio i had. Just have to be certain about the procedure. If not comfortable, dont do it.

I agree, the frustrating part is the manufacturers should be providing this to the customer. We as the customer need to start giving feedback that we will not accept this if they continue to fail the customer. Honestly i really like the head unit, and it has functioned well for almost 2 years, but for $350 bucks the reliability needs to be better for the end cost.

Ive had pretty good support with joying unit. This is my 2nd radio from them. The last one was running 4.4.4 kk and it finally died this pass Dec. They are pretty good about support. But i also frequent xda for modified rom. It help takes most of the bloated, unwanted apps away while smoothing out the tom a little bit more. $350 is definitely not little money.. that's how much i paid for this new unit with the intel chip. 4g/64g ips 1280x720 resolution screen. Snappy.

That's what they do when they can't provide the support you need. Send you to somewhere else.
If you dont have anything important on the radio, try the factory reset and see if it would fix itself. Sucks you need to start all over afterward though.

Ill give that a go, then look at flashing. Everything else works on the unit but the wifi. Im really thinking the internal modem has died. Thanks for the advice ill keep you all posted. Since the wifi died i have resorted to uploading apk files via the usb.
