2 actual conversations I had today re: truck buying.

1st one with a Toyota salesperson. Inquired on an AG 1794 - list sticker on the dealer site and price slash with "call for special price"....so I take the bait. Inquire on my "special price" and get a prompt reply via text...special price is 2k ABOVE sticker!

So I ask why priced above sticker on a 1794...replies its a "one of a kind"...ask whats so unique about this one..."its the only 1794 in AG Toyota ever made"....I asked if he'd like to place a small wager on that statement...."Well its the only one I've ever seen" is the reply.....and sadly he was runner up for stupidest salesperson today.

Our winner - a Ram dealer.

Asked where they were at on a 2021 Longhorn 1500..replies to me with a price 3500 below sticker (with 3500 incentive posted) !! Told him thats kinda steep...the all time great ignorant salesperson reply..."Well, we are experiencing a crisis level national truck shortage - and boss says no discounting beyond manufacturers incentive. You really should lock in now as 1st of the month - Ram is ending all incentives and it will be straight sticker price! " April fools indeed...sadly - I think both these bozos BELIEVE the BS they are spewing.

National truck shortage...like they are gonna start rationing trucks next week....

Normal discounts on the big 3 are 20% to 25% off MSRP. They like to play the old mark em up to mark em down game to make the GP think they are getting a deal. Problem is as soon as things get back to normal, and they will, the resale will take a big hit.

The prices right now are stupid across the board. I have a 2020 GMC 3500 AT4 Duramax with 8,000 km listed right now for over $12k what I paid for it in November and I'm getting tons of interest. For someone to pay sticker new price on a used truck is insane. I've made money on vehicles before but never when I bought them new, this is a first.
