I recently purchased an 08 Tundra Limited 133000 miles. based on records it was maintained faithfully . what is opinion on switching from conventional oil to amsoil or synthetic ? I imagine it can't hurt it. How many miles between changes with amsoil? I have heard guys doing 6-8000 and some even going 15-20,000 .

I do 10k on my 04 4.7 running Valvoline 0w-20 currently. Has 198k on it right now with no leaks.

Wouldn't run Amsoil just because it's not readily available to me and more expensive than what I'm currently using with no issues .

Even if amsoil is the best, unless you can easily buy it local you don’t need it. there are 5 oils at your local store almost as good.

Im in South central pa which is a huge area for Sprint car racing, stock car racing and other divisions so Amsoil is more than available to me. Seems like every guy with a garage is a distributer. Off topic here buy We won our race Friday night at local track.

You’re not gonna get better than Amsoil. Base stocks(Group 4/true synthetic) are better than the stuff slung at wal mart. Its made in USA. Take my money.

That being said, nothing wrong with M1, Penn etc. On a street engine driven under street conditions, you’ll never know the difference.

FWIW you can get Mobil right now for $23 at WM then send in a rebate for $10. Good until the end of September on up to 4 5qt bottles.

I had my oil changed with Walmart super tech back in March and the truck runs great, the same as it did on mobil1. Why pay more money when super tech is api sn plus certified. Regardless of which oil brand you choose it’s wise to stick to the change intervals and you should be golden.
