I have a 2014 1794 and I bought it used with the AMP Research Power Steps. Both steps worked great when I bought it and about a year after the driver side stopped working. Before it stopped working all together, it was intermittent coming up and down while the door was open. I have replaced the control module and checked over the wiring. I have called the help desk for AMP, and I have followed all the troubleshooting suggestions they gave me. Nothing has worked.
I have used a multimeter to check for voltage. I have no voltage signal going to the plug to the step motor. I have about a 5v signal from the door signal wires that run through the floorboard and is part of the AMP harness when I press and depress the door plunger. The steps will not come down when either the front or back driver side doors are opened or both opened together. The strange thing is, when I manually retract the steps into the down position using a screwdriver and turning the motor manually, I'll bring it all the way down and when I will pull the fuse at the battery and put the fuse back in, the driver side steps will go up to the stowed position on its own.
Has anyone seen this or troubleshot this same scenario? I would rather fix the issue instead of taking the power steps off completely and using regular running boards.
    This is my last hope....hehe

Sounds like the control module, did it ever work after you replaced it? Maybe you got a bad replacement.

I had my control module go out on mine a few months before the warranty expired and they sent me a new module. I remember their CS being pretty good, but took a while on hold to get to them.

It did not work after I replaced the control module. I don't think they warranty replacement parts if it is unsure it is bad.

On my amp steps the driver side motor went out a couple months after install, a few more months passenger side when out. The new motors seem to be holding up well, time will tell.

True, understandable that there are bad parts out there. I'm on hold with the company that I ordered the control module for to see what kind of warranty that I can get for a possible bad part.

Did amp confirm the control module is compatible with the motors? Might want to see if you're able to switch to the OBD plug. Wiring on that was really straight forward, 2 wires.

I could switch to the OBD Plug, but I'd need to buy a whole new harness. They aren't that expensive, but I'd like to not re-wire the whole thing. I bought the control module from Real Truck and their techs assured me that the module was the correct replacement for my model. Those control modules are pretty universal.

That's all appears to be the same. I got mine second hand, had to end up replacing the motors because the gearbox portions were seized. You can disconnect the motors and put power to them to see if it would spin. You can also manually spin the gearbox to see if that's the issue. I ended replacing pretty much everything but the hinges and boards.

I had to replace my module under warranty and drivers side motor. Are the passenger side steps working ??

Steuby - Did you ever get this resolved? I am having same issue - sgteps do not deploy and my LED step lights do not come on. I am going down the troubleshooting doc and am getting ready to conclude that the problem is the controller but your post bothered me....thx, Buckaroo

    Which controller do you have?
    Is it the older A-06?
If yes, do you have the toggle switch?

I ended up removing the steps and putting on regular static running boards. Just got tired of trying to troubleshoot the steps. They are cool when they work.

I installed the steps in '17 on my 2017 Tundra. They have worked well but had to replace the motor on the driver side in '22. It was covered under warranty. Yes, I have the A-06 control module but I don't have the toggle switch. I need to do some more testing tomorrow but am getting ready to indict the control module and replace with the 19-04280-STA but don't plan on including the toggle switch. I talkled to Tech Support today and they also think the control module is likely the issue but I want to make sure before I order it. I asked if the new control module was more reliable but they said that actually the old module was better. So we will see how it goes.
