Am I Crazy? Mirrors Adjusting In Reverse

I have had my limited CM since around May/June of 2022. Maybe it is because I am normally looking at the backup camera instead of my side mirrors, but I have never noticed that they automatically adjust when putting the truck in reverse to give better visibility to the rear. This may be a feature in most trucks, and may have been in the previous generations before the tundra I had a 4Runner and a taco so this is my first full size. It has always done this though right? This isn’t something Toyota could add with a software update. I did just have my 5k mile service….

I understand more likely it has always done that and I just never noticed before. I just thought it was a cool feature.

 

Our lexus does this. Pretty cool if they added this to the tundra....hopefully you can turn it off also, would be annoying if backing up a trailer.

 

That I am not sure of yet, I haven’t looked in the settings for it. It is possible that with 7-pin connectors it disables it like the backup sensor but I have no idea.

 

Easy to turn off. The knob on the ds door that is used to select mirror adjustment must be in either L or R to activate. Simple adjust knob to the center position and this disables the tilt down feature.

 

I concur with this procedure to turn it off. I find the automatic adjusting mirrors very helpful when I'm parallel parking. However, if I'm just backing into a trailer or parking spot, I easily just turn it off.

 

Interesting, so that is probably all it is. I think I have always had the dial in the center, dealership maybe moved it to L/R which is why I am now seeing it function. Will need to check. The more you know and the things I learn from this forum.

 

You can adjust where your mirror tilts. Each one is independently adjustable.

 

This thread helped for my new2me 21. Knew about tilt down in reverse but did not know that reverse positions also save with the memory buttons. Just went out to garage for test - works on 21. Sweet. Also did not know about disabling pivot down by putting adjust button to center - will be good for trailers.
