Alternator whine in speakers

Any ideas what would be causing this all of a sudden? I had to put a new battery in the truck and went with a yellow optima. I never had the alternator whine before I changed the battery.

 

How do you hear the whine? Is it through the speakers, or just hear a whine from the engine bay?

Running an amp power wire parallel to speaker wires can cause a whine in speakers. It s suggested that anytime speaker wire crosses power wire it be done at a right angle. Other than that I don t see how changing battery could cause a whine. Were the cables re routed? Maybe they are interfering with other wiring. Maybe check the terminal conections for a clean secure connection; especially the ground. In fact if cables get jostled around that could have caused other connections to become loose. It would be good idea to check all cable connections. This may be helpfull. I think another cause could be voltage is out of range with yellow battery. That would make alternastor work harder and maybe cause it to whine.

 

Either a power line and speaker wire running parallel or a bad ground.
Double check you battery connections and surrounding grounds.
Was the amp wire moved when the battery was replaced?

 

Hmmmm. This makes no sense. Simply swapping out a battery should not cause the whine in your speakers. A ground loop in your stereo/amp system, speaker wire running beside an amp power wire, or inadequate ground wire gauge can cause that sound. But not a battery swap.

 

Most likely a bad ground......almost always the culprit. If you’ve added an amp or anything like that you can also wrap the wires for it in a shielded jacket - sometimes simply running the power wires together can cause the issue too.

 

Gain settings? Probably high noise floor from high gain or poor ground loop.

I’ve ran power wire next to speaker wires many times, only thing that increased the static or white noise was both poor grounding or the gain on the amp.

If you have anything in line, like an additional dsp, loc, noise floor will increase as well.

Big if here, possibly the new battery increased input voltage to the amp power in and is introducing a higher present current in the amp, again would double check the grounding for that. Make sure the ground wire is attached to a bare metal surface and not a painted one.

 

Need more info on your audio setup. Stock, Aftermarket etc.. amp, wires etccc.
