Alpine ILX-F511. Game Changer

The Alpines were replacing aftermarket headunits (pioneer) that had aftermarket SXM tuners. Both worked perfectly when removed and stopped working when plugged into the new radio. The one I already replaced was with the same part number (SXV300 V1) that I took out.

$43 SXV300V1 SiriusXM SXV300 Standalone Vehicle Tuner (Replacement-Antenna not included)

SXV300V1 was plug and play from my previous install. I don't think there were any settings that needed to be changed to enable SXM...

 

That has generally been my experience with SXM tuners as well.

First one I dismissed as a fluke but I am now two for two on this. Both of them are/were like this. SXM greyed out and this message appearing when you try to select it.

All were updated at time of install.

Has anyone had their unit become unresponsive? I opened XM and I could not change anything, just froze on the channel and kept playing the station

 

You see they added support for an 8-channel accessory controller? You still have to use your own relays though...and the thing is $200!

 

I think @TundraPHX may have grabbed that? But yeah it’s a bring your own relay deal, so not much good to any of us with a spod or SP module.

 

Went to my local Best Buy this morning and asked customer service to check the sku. She told me the price of the 9” was $300, so I said sold! Come to find out she couldn’t order it, saying it was sold out everywhere. Is this the consensus now, or should I try another store?

Kenwood DMX1037s ordered for $460. Next best thing and I prefer having a volume knob

 

Might try that tomorrow then. I keep going back and forth on this. I have the Pioneer out of my old Tundra, but man that thing was buggy.

Went by a local BB store, went straight to customer service, gave the girl the sku number to pull up and bam $350! Issue is that it’s out of stock and she couldn’t place the order. Called manager over and I asked if I could at least pay and wait for shipping. He said no!

 

So, I went to the BB here in Scottsdale AZ this morning, just to see what they'd say as I only found this thread a few days ago, went straight to customer service and the nice lady looked up the unit from the photo I had on my iPhone (from this thread) and sure enough, it is still in their system. She said the stores price is $1300+ dollars but she looked up the sku sale price and sold me one all-in for $379 and change, which will hopefully be shipped to me October 2nd. I don't know if it'll get sent to me but they took my money. We shall see.

 

Now I need an audio installation place in Scottsdale AZ (recommendations???) to install it for me. I'm 55 years old and I'm not attempting to do any of that on my own.

 

It’s showing back in stock on the BB website. May try to go back today and see if I can order one.

@TXHUNTER85 Did you show her the photo from here with the sku number? That’s what I did, the lady here at BB who looked it up wouldn’t have found the sale price without that number.

 

I just read her the SKU. What photo?

 

Sounds like it’s hit and miss depending on where you go as it’s late in the game.
