Alpine ILX-F511. Game Changer

A friend here went in over the when’s and said the sku for the kenwood wouldn’t even pull up in their system. The alpine skus popped as unavailable.

 

Yeah that happened to me when I went in a second time for the kenwoods

 

I just got one of the Kenwoods!! I had to go to customer service and ask them to type in the SKU. Thanks for everyone on this thread for the tips... now Im sure I'm going to need to buy some other parts to make it work. Is it roughly the same as the Alpine? Im guessing I will need the following based on Crutchfield description. These are Amazon links as I found the prices to be a little cheeper on some of them. I have not bought them so any input would be appreciated. Others who got the Kenwood DMX1037S, what extra parts are you ordering? (Maybe this should be in our own Kenwood DMX1037S thread)

Does anyone have any advice if I should get some different parts? I have the anytime front and rear camera and would like to retain that ability. Will I need to add anything extra to this list? Im also interested in a dash cam. Does anyone know of a good one that will work with kenwoods? I saw there was one for the Alpine units.

Not sure if you’re looking to save some coin, but the maestro unit also come up for cheap on OfferUp and other sites. I see one for sale for $50 plus a few more for shipping. Just a thought..

 

Maybe we can get @BiggHertz to swap out his visor strip for one made out of these..

I called about 4 bestbuys in my area. Two could get the Kenwood to pull up and order it but only for full price. The others couldn't get anything to come up when given the SKU: 6428592

All 4 said the Alpines were not available.

 

Dang that's weird. I just ordered mine like 2 hours ago. I just gave them the SKU and it pulled up.

 

I’m jealous. No best buys close by and too far to drive on a gamble they can’t fulfill the deal.

You cant call in. In store only, I dont believe anyone has been able to call in. I dont know why that is tbh.

 

Yep In store only. My brother picked it up for me because I live 2 hours away. They would not even accept my card over the phone with him standing there to buy it. They have to run a physical card so he bought it and just put my address down. I will just pay him back.

 

Well I may just have to go on a field trip & find out then. I did see the posts about it being an in-store only deal. I was calling to see if they could even pull it up via the SKU before making the drive. The folks over the phone understood that I was not talking about them ordering it for me via BestBuy.com but who knows...

 

I would think you should be able to call that stores customer service and have them pull it up before you go. I mean if you talk to the same person on the phone as you would when you go to the actual store they should be trying to pull up the same stuff.

 

Just received my order from Crutchfield.

 

Picked up my Alpine today - thanks @BillyB!

New single-din dash kit, front camera adapter and HDMI/USB plug have arrived. Just waiting on the bypass module and I think I’m ready to pull shit apart to reflash the maestro and wire in the new harness.

Anything else I'm missing to swap out the Kenwood @TRDFerguson?

I picked up one of these and waiting for it to arrive. Not even sure it’ll work but would be nice to be able to use the factory gps. Not sure why it wouldn’t

 

@RainMan_PNW thought he had a possible fix or at least that's what I'm recalling at the moment.

Not sure which one Casey bought, but I’ll be sure to let everyone know if the one I purchased works. I have a feeling most people will already have their radios installed by that point though

 

I think I was the only one that was able to, and that was cause I got the one in a million super knowledgeable and helpful rep. She set the ticket up and sent it to the store, I just had to go in to pay for it. Nobody else was able to do that after I mentioned it. Like I said, I got lucky.
