Are these also Alpharex tails? What color are the strips when the truck is off?

I was referring to the tail lights. Do you have a photo with them turned off?

I dont know about any one else, but I'm a HUGE fan of the amber color !
Is there a manufacturer of headlights that intentionally does this ?

Lol! Do you want to see a picture of the headlights and all the other dozens of boxes by them that I have accumulated for a tundra build? Lol. Let me dig through the boxes and then I can take them out

Well there are only two ways to wire up the lights. One will give you his outcome without turning on the lights. When you do turn your lights on the DRL will turn white. Both will give you sequential turn signals.

    upload_2021-11-13_15-26-44.jpg

The other way to wire up will give you this. You will loose sequential turn signals. Contacted Alpha Rex yesterday and was told to depin gray wire he also suggested I could just cut it. Then 5 minutes later told me at my own risk. So I will try and depin in case all goes to hell.

    Thanks!

i’m just about to tear into mine here soon and I definitely want the Amber running lights to work.

It seems that amber lights don’t work or don’t come on for my 2021 tundra stock lights.

So your after amber drl ring with no lights on and white ring with headlights on?

While keeping sequential amber turn signal.

Mine is a 2017 I do not know what wiring has changed with the years. This is how it is wired resulting in the amber DRL until you turn your head lights on. Which you would think it should be wired that way. Alpha Rex told me that I shouldn’t be running them for a long time like that, couldnt tell you why.

Here is link on YouTube showing someone depin gray wire. There is another one posted by “I hacker” also. I think he was putting on LED Pros on an older Tundra. Looks like what he was doing is something before the harness was produced.

What happened if you disconnect this plug? The directions mention not using a yellow wire.

What am I missing. What is it you don’t have now that you are trying to accomplish by de-pining grey?

Edit: I have re-read and I think I get it. The way you have it wired now you are sacrificing sequential turn signal?

Looks like this is a newer harness for the updated features. Yours has an extra connection from the yellow DRL wire to the stock turn signals, guessing its how the sequential and amber drl functions got added.
I bought my NOVAs April 2020 and my harness doesn't have the extra connection to the turn signals like yours.
Mine just powers the DRLs and looks like the wiring diagram.

So that yellow wire does have a connection at the drivers side but on the passenger side it dead ends.

My depin tool comes in Friday so by Saturday we will see if depinning the gray wire effects headlights.

My AlphaRex headlights don’t have a yellow wire but they have the same issue. Amber DRL with headlights off, and dimmed white DRL with headlights on.

I had thought the AlphaRex DRL relay harness was faulty since it’s responsible for the bright white daytime DRL. Without the fuse tap, I still have all the features (sequential turns, activation sequence, dimmed white DRL with headlights on) but I continued to have amber DRL with headlights off.

The gray wire mod actually kinda makes sense. If the truck’s DRL wiring “overpowers” the Alpharex DRL relay harness, then that would explain why we don’t see the bright white DRL.

I’m curious to see what happens after the gray wire mod. If it works, you’ll have saved me from buying new headlights :)

In order for my lights to have white DRL with lights off the grey connector needs to be plugged into the corresponding grey connector (labeled in red arrows). Then the black connector needs the turn signal bulb into the housing (labeled in blue arrow).859119B4-F447-4E6B-BAF2-E1DD8353F5A5.jpg

    Ignore the green

edit: this was also the only way I could get sequentials to work properly. I have the alpha pro series and don’t think I had a DRL before on the swap
