My 2018 sr5 newest stalls on startup every once in a while.

I’ll turn the ignition, it fires up, RPM drops below 500 for a second and a half, then it roars back up to about 1000rpm.

The eff is going on here?

Is it like a shudder when you start up? If so, mine did that a while back. Seemed to be worse when it got colder if that is a thing in south Louisiana. Anyway, the dealer told me it was bad fuel and had to re-learn the alcohol/fuel mixture. Sounds like a computer reflash to me but they denied me warranty on that and told me it was bad gas. After they did the reflash which was well over a year ago, it never happened again.

I only buy Costco gas, which I thought was pretty high quality?

I don’t know if you would call it a shudder… the RPMs just drop for a brief moment. Seems like it’s about to stall but it never has.

Mine has done this a few times over the years. usually its after having cycled the ignition a few times. listening to music, rolling windows up. etc. It'll start for about a second, then die. I'll restart the truck and everything will be fine.

I had the exact same problem last year, ended up being the fuel pump going out. The dealership it could go out at any point and my truck wan't safe to drive, but the fuel pump was on backorder. They ended up giving me a free rental for three months while we waited on the part.

Yah, it was covered under TSB. My trucks a 2015 and had 78k on it at the time. They took care of everything, the parts, the labor and the rental.
