    good afternoon!

I fly up to Oregon on Thursday to drive back a 2007 Tundra home to SoCal. It belonged to my best friend who passed away last January. His wife reached out to me last week and asked if I wanted to buy his truck, she was needing to sell it. It was his baby, so I couldn’t say no, he’d want me to drive it. Never imagined I’d have a Tundra, but I’m excited to get it. It’ll be an honor for me to have it.

It has 136k miles, CrewMax, Limited, 4WD, etc. I pulled the Carfax, it has a lot of the servicing, etc. Anything I should take a look at first? I did some research and it’s like googling a headache, you find out all the terrible things that it could be...I read about the secondary air injection pump, the cam towers, and it kinda terrified me. :). I’d like to keep it as long as it will run well. I’m not afraid of doing suspension work, brakes, regular maintenance, tho I probably won’t touch the tranny servicing(will take to a reputable shop).

I know the folks that post are coming here for resouces and it’s not like all of them have issues. Are they reliable trucks and live up to the Toyota rep?

    Thanks, appreciate the forum.

    Doug

Sorry to jear about the circumstances of acquiring your Tundra, but at that mileage its just getting started. All vehicles can have problems but the Toyota brand is very reliable.

Sorry about your friend. Where in Orygun was this truck driven? East of Cascades is dry, west side is pretty rainy, and the coast would be a source for potential rust issues from the salt air. I know, I lived there for 13 years. Take a good look underneath for any rust issues. Sounds like the Tunny did get regular service which is a plus. You now own a very good truck....

No can tower leaks on my 07. Believe more on later models.

Medford. It was originally purchased in Eugene from Kendall Toyota and was serviced there for many years(looking at the Carfax)

    Thanks!

Medford is far enough from the coast to get the crazy rain. Nice town actually and a great climate. Eugene is in the wet zone (GO DUCKS!!!) but 50+ miles from the coast. I'm thinking you are good to go!
