    2018 Tundra Off Road
    Hi All!

I've spent a long time reading but its finally time to post!

I have a 2018 Tundra SR5 4x4 with the off road package all stock. Every since I bought the truck new last year I've had alignment issues and tire balancing issues. First alignment was at 5,000 2 months after buying the truck. I've dealt with it and complained every visit and service after that. They keep blaming the balance but finally forced them to check alignment.

In the last 6 week's I've had it aligned 3 times. Toyota dealer telling me they have no clue, Corporate is telling me they won't do anything. Any advice or suggestions on what could be causing this? I've attached the most recent alignment specs below:

    Most Recent Alignment

    Middle Alignment

    First Alignment

My tundra is scary to drive, it feels like I have no control over it and just drifts all over the road no matter what. I'll be trading it in shortly if I can't figure this out

    Thanks!

Something is evidently way wrong with it you are going to have to keep pushing until someone clicks and figures out what is wrong or take it to another dealer and hold the have someone there that has a little more going for him other than showing up and being on automatic and getting a check!! Good luck!! They should be going out of their way to figure it out!!

Thanks for your reply! I've actually been to two dealers now. The first day after it appears to be fixed but almost immediately after a few miles its all over the place again. Very annoying and customer care is doing very little to help resolve the issue.

Call up a couple of reputable off-road shops in your area and ask them where they go for alignments.

I wonder if they were torquing the LCA bolts to spec after alignment. If not it can go out of spec quick. 207 Ft lbs

Something has to be coming loose some how. I wouldn't deal with the dealership even under warranty if they cant figure it out have a good mechanic check it over somewhere else as well.

And make the shop management get in there with you and ask him why they can’t figure out what is wrong with the truck they sold you. Find out who did the mods for them and take it there??! Other than that good luck let us know when they find that simple thing they are over looking and fix it for you!!:)

Would definitely take it to a bonafide alignment specialist then save whatever receipts you get and have Toyota reimburse once the culprit gets fixed.

Have you looked up the local lemon laws for your state?

What are the symptoms you are experiencing? Are you sure you're not experiencing tire pull from the road crown? My '16 Tundra can do this pretty bad depending on how bad the road is crowned to the point it feels like your alignment is off and the wheels is crooked trying to go straight.

In Florida it's difficult to find a completely flat road whereby I can test the alignment out but there happens to be one near where my dealer and house is. I drive on it once and awhile to verify it's still correct.

I've also found different tire brands pull more than others. My Bridgestones tend to pull more to the sides than my Michelin ATX's.

The Tundra steering also requires frequent input compared to other vehicles I've owned. You're always tinkering with it on the highway.

Looks like your toe keeps getting knocked out. I'd try a specialized alignment shop. Make sure they torque your cam bolts properly. Then mark your alignment cams with a sharpie to make sure they don't move after your alignment.

What tires are you running? Stock Michelin LTX AT2s still?

    At what pressure?

The symptoms always make me think it’s road crown because it Will pull either way based on the road. The extreme lack of being able to track straight even on major highways like 95 always make me think something is wrong. I have to fight the wheel to go straight. Also yes, running Michelin’s Ltx at2 at roughly 40 psi. Any lower and I get extreme shake in the steering wheel as well. They just added 3.5-4 oz to each tire to balance, which seems to fix the shake issue. Still unsure why the alignment would constantly go out. Calling the 4x4 shop tomorrow to ask for an alignment specialist recommendation!

I’m not sure which angle does it, but isn’t it possible that an alignment is “too perfect” and thus causes the truck to follow every angle in the road?

Tires can be bad as well, if it’s pulling a certain way, rotate the front tires side to side, the pull will follow the tire
