    Hi,
I have recently had new Bilstein adjustable shocks fitted to the front of my '08 Limited. On the advice of the garage I took it for an alignment today and the tire shop is telling me I need new upper control arms because the existing ones do not have enough adjustment in the ball joints. Has anyone run into this before and, if so which upper control arms should I get? The shocks are adjusted to plus 2 inches and I am running 20 inch rims with stock tires although I am planning to swap to 18 inch rims and 33 inch AT tires.
As ever all help gratefully received
    Tack

I think the general consensus is 2" your fine but you get into the 3" range and UCA's are needed. Each truck is a little different as is alignment tech skills. There are several threads to dig through on alignment settings outside of the norm that get it correct or close to. I don't have any aftermarket UCA's so I can't attest to them or what to go with. From what I'm reading it wouldn't hurt to add them if your bumping that higher side of a lift.

Is is the 6112s? If so, what setting? I had some on the 1.9” setting and didn’t need new uca. Like said above, usually 2 1/2” to 3” is when you need new uca.

The new shocks are indeed Bilstein 6112's. They are set at plus 1.9 inches.
My concern was that the tire shop was trying to fleece me. From the replies thus far it sounds like I need someone who understands the adjustments better.

Try another alignment shop. Check reviews or ask around for a reputable one. Where are you? Maybe someone here can recommend one.

1.9 (2”) is the same as a stock TRD pro. Not an issue for UCA and shouldn’t be an issue for alignment.

I spoke with the garage who fitted the shocks and the guy who does his alignments pretty much echoed what was said here. I am getting them done by him.
    Many thanks for the replies.

You don’t do adjustment, therefore can not run out of adjustment, on the factory UCA’s. There is nothing to adjust on them. With factory UCA’s, all the adjustment is done with the lower cam bolts for caster/camber and the tie rods for toe. If they told you they ran out of adjustment on the UCA’s, and they’re factory UCA’s, then they bald-face lied to you.
