Wondering if anyone can help with this:

Have the same boat for 10 years and previous boats before this one. Consider myself pretty good when it comes to backing up but first time with the new Tundra and this thing literally stops me 4-5 times and locks up the breaks with a red “Alert” message on the screen while attempting to back out of my spot.

Didn’t have the “trailer” registered to the boat so figured I had to do this.

Same thing happens to me numerous times when I get home after fishing and am backing down my block. And when this thing stops you you know it as it’s freaking loud and stops very suddenly with a big red alert sign on the screen.

Today I go to the boat ramp as it has a large parking lot and officially calibrate the boat trailer and register the boat trailer with the truck

Same thing happens when I get home and am backing down my block and now I’m in the correct boat trailer mode.

Figured it’s these stupid safety related driver assisted settings and literally turn every single one off and still happends numerous times.

Can’t get it to literally stop doing this no matter what I do. At a total loss as I’m not even going fast or anywhere near a point in which the truck would think I’d jackknife.

Once it stops short and throws this red alert on the screen if you wait a few seconds it’ll go away and let you proceed but only to do it again and again.

What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions??

Really wakes you up when it happens, right? Scared the hell out of me. Truck thinks you’re backing into something.

should be a button on the left panel for back up sensor. Turn that off and all is good. Looks like a car with traffic cone and star symbol.

I don't have a 2022, so I might be off here, but if it's part of the trailer assist system my first question would be if it is calibrated as instructed here.

I have the same issue with the 7 pin connector. Really startled me the first time. I haven't changed the settings yet. But I think you can inactivate that feature in your settings on your dash.

yep, did this exact thing yesterday in my local boat ramp. The straight path assist works great and I tried it several times and it worked flawlessly.

Too bad the video however doesn’t make mention of the fact that to back up a trailer like you mean it with your head sticking out the window on a busy ramp on a typical Florida weekend you have to press that dash button.

In all honesty though I don’t remember reading anywhere about that button and hope it works for me but of course suspecting it will. This thing has literally stopped me in my tracks like 20 times as I didn’t realize the button was a thing.

On another note though this truck pulls the boat great and I honestly don’t even feels it there when towing. Granted I’m only sitting at about 5,000 lbs but love everything about the truck (if the button works…lol)

I wonder if they'll do a SW update to make that rear brake assist shut off the sensors when a trailer is connected. It seems like the logical thing to do, but IDK how they've got it all worked out.

from everything on this site they are really overdue for a software update to fix a long list of things , mostly small but needed. Not unexpected with a new truck so hopefully the developers get this done soon

I had the same issue and have since disabled the auto brake feature. That said, does your camera still beep incessantly while backing up a trailer as it detects an obstruction? I would have thought that pressing that button would remove auto break and audible warning.

Agreed. Also I can relate to this post. It happened to me twice in the first week, and I've had it off every since! Once backing out of a parking space when a car turned into the aisle.. second time I was just backing into a parking space and the truck hit the brakes because I was close to the bush

Our ES does this backing out of the garage. We have to turn the wheel slightly as the driveway curves and it senses we are going to hit the side of the door. It also slams on the brakes backing out of the garage if the pavement is wet. Really annoying

I did this with a small utility trailer a few weeks after I got mine. The beeping and slamming on the brakes thing was driving me insane. I’m so accustomed to backing trailers with side mirrors that the camera system took me some getting used to, but once you do and just use it along with the mirrors, its pretty awesome.

I also experienced this and pressed the collision assist button (with the little cone) and solved the problem.

I also press this button when I go into the car wash. I assume the truck could also freak out and slam on the brakes if it senses the brushes coming towards it in the wash bay... Anyone have this happen, er naw?

You have to hit the "ok" button on the left thumb of the steering wheel to select the "temporarily mute" prompt that appears in the dashboard. Also useful when you are on a call and pulling into a space and your truck starts beeping like crazy because you are getting close to some pompous grass... With your left thumb, press the ok button on the steering wheel and the beeping will stop.

Now, if only that button could silence the seatbelt warning...
