I currently have 1 1/2" blocks, a TRD sway bar, and the Airlift wireless system on my truck. I got to thinking today .... does the sway bar prevent my air bags from lifting the rear of my truck properly when I fill them? There are times, when I have nothing in the back and have about 15 lbs of pressure in the bags (I do have a cap however) and it seems my truck is slightly raked to the back. Also, is there any overlap in performance expectation between the bags and the sway bar? If I were to take off the sway bar how would running the truck with only bags effect performance?

Any insight I can get would be greatly appreciated. Trying to decide if I should just take the sway bar off, leave it, and why

    Thanks!

Bags, in theory, are only "used" when the bed is loaded. They will only level your load when filled up to level the load in your bed. So the TRD rear sway and bags may nit lift your bed much when you're running an empty bed...you got the bags to level your loaded bed so you're not squatting...not to lift the bed...I assume

No, the sway bar does not inhibit the air bags or blocks from lifting the rear of the truck. The sway bar is built to pivot where the bar attaches to the end links and inside the sway bar bushings as the suspension cycles up and down. The links are not constrained and provide very little resistance; the weight of the bar alone would rotate on the links if you undo the brackets on the axle. Instead, sway bars limit the motion bias of one side of the axle from flexing independently from other as you would see in body roll as you go around a corner; weight would transfer to the outside corner of the vehicle and compress the suspension while unloading the suspension on the inside of the turn.

I currently run air bags with my TRD sway bar and you can watch the rear of the vehicle raise or lower with the air in the bags. Putting it up on jacks or a lift and you can see the suspension droop with zero issues. I've run the air bags without the sway bar and there was no difference in the ability of the rear suspension to cycle up and down as long as both wheels move up or down at the same rate. Not running a sway bar, however, DID affect the amount of body roll I encountered both loaded and unloaded. I actually ditched the rear sway bar and sold it to a friend, then realized it made a perceptible difference in body roll and bought another one to replace the one I sold.

I also have a TRD bar and bags. Work very well together with no issues.
I have thick Deaver U748 packs, which made bar installation a real pain till I figured that I could simply mount the bar on the back of the axle instead of the bottom. Works perfect.
