Code B1695 (Passenger side - side airbag sensor)

I'm repairing an 08 Tundra after an accident on the passenger side, see original thread here: https://www.tundras.com/threads/jus...e-title-tundra-how-about-some-advice-0.96367/

I had a bunch of SRS codes to start, and after replacing the airbag and sending off the drivers and passengers seatbelt and airbag controller unit to myairbags dot com everything is clear except the code above. This accident didn't affect the interior of the vehicle at all, just scraped along the side. I have replaced the passenger side airbag sensor located in the c pillar but I still get this error. I swapped sensors left to right to check also. Is there potentially another sensor I'm not aware of?

Anyone have suggestions or have a guide on how to check the wiring & plug? I'm pretty cautious around airbag stuff.

That code of for the left/driverside “Side Airbag sensor” which is in the door I believe.

Which one are you referring to in the C pillar?

I'm not sure if my screenshot will be attached to post or appear in line. If you look at the red arrow, it points to the location of one side impact sensor on my 2008 double cab. The code I get is for the passenger side, however. Any idea where I can find the same diagram for 2008 models?

All of the 2007-2013 trucks should be the same. They all use the same airbag control module.

Wjat configuration is your truck? Crew cab double cab?

I would say post some pictures of the sensor in your C pillar. I really don’t think it should be that far back but I could be wrong.

I posted the 2009 Double cab from the Toyota repair manual. Yours should be the same as that.

I don't have a picture handy, I'll try to take one tomorrow. But I'm not mistaken, there is one in the C pillar. This is the part number off the sensor itself: https://parts.toyota.com/p/Toyota_2...t-Sensor-Left--Right/63283214/898310C040.html

Quoting your post from another thread:

Could you tell if the airbag controller is fully functional with your software? I have been chatting with myairbags.com tech support, and this is what they tell me:

"What we do is erase crash data and check for communication. That is what a reset service is. You don't have any crash codes because that is what we do. When a module has an internal issue when it goes thru a self-diagnosis we are unable to determine that because we don't have access to that feature. The module needs to be installed in the vehicle to access that part of the module."

I'm kind of curious if they fully cleared the previous crash history of my controller. My understanding is controllers don't typically go bad from crashes, when they do go bad it's more random/age. I'm also wondering if I buy a used one if it can easily be programmed to my vehicle or not with techstream. I have another code reading tool from harbor freight which cleared all other SRS codes after repair, but it won't program a controller if it does need to be programmed.

Techstream is the only software that can fully see inside the ACM. It’s Toyotas diagnostic software and it’s the only thing that knows the “Toyota Code”

The software for downloads only reads the memory. It has no ability to do functional testing.

ECUs don’t really just go bad, unless it get full of water or somthing. Your issue is a sensor or wiring. The fact you are getting a trouble code means the airbag ecu is communicating. It’s the only ECU that can trigger this code.

Only having one code means the airbag ecu is like 95% happy. You just have one small issue left. If the airbag ecu had no communication there would be a trouble code for “lost communication with airbag control module.” Truck has the same code when it’s ran without an instrument cluster. I have seen and cleared it many times.
