So, went to run into town today, and discovered that air is evidently not blowing through the dash vents.

To clarify, it 'seems' as if the only vents air is being directed through are the defrost vents @ the top of the dash; nothing through the front of the dash, and I'm not feeling anything @ the feet, either. I verified the different modes via pushing the button (I've got the version that does Automatic climate control) with no change.

Any thoughts? The truck has <5K miles on it, so I'm not worried about paying anything (aside from a deductible); but I'm hoping for either a fuse issue or PICNIC issue (problem in chair, not in car/truck).

    To update/add:

I've verified (so far as I'm able to) that nothing else appears to be having any issues. Sound system, wipers, vehicle interior/exterior lights, etc. all appear to be working just fine.

I guess it's a good thing that I'm getting no replies; better than getting a crap ton of them all saying "OMG yes that's happened to 232448 other people." LOL

    Yeah, but

    a) it's under bumper to bumper warranty and
    b) it's not super common for this to happen, from what I understand.

Oh well - we buy them because they're MORE reliable than other vehicles, not because they're problem-free. :)

On a side note - I *thought* (outside of warranty) this could be done without removing the dash?

    Update:

Brought the wife outside to have her help me check symptoms (e.g., if it was both sides, if it was locked to just the defrost vents, etc.)

Turned the truck on, and all works well.

Ah well, I'll just keep an eye on it and let it slide, I suppose.

Could be; am wondering if it's not a gremlin somewhere in the HVAC controls.

I'll just make sure it's set to dash everytime I turn the truck off, and not worry about it. I mean, as it is, it's not exactly a huge monster issue - searching 'blend door actuator' returns ONE page of results here, and 99% of them tie to the same 2 threads, with maybe 3 people reporting this issue.

there is a vent connection under the steering wheel that feeds the front vents i believe. i knocked mine loose when i installed my brake controller... maybe have a look and make sure it's tight? it's a rectangular plastic tube.

    Update:

It's happened a handful of times since then. The last time it happened, I called the dealership; and while it didn't reproduce upon startup (of course lol), they DID see the issue, so they've got it documented. The service technician is pretty sure that what's going on is the HVAC system doing a self-check upon startup when it notices something's slightly hosed....and therefore the 'blank's screen on the HVAC display. Once it does kick in, it stays locked to the defroster vents because that's the default position.

I don't like the fact that it happens, but I mean, it's literally happened less than about 8 times since I've had the truck. If it ever happens more reliably, I'll bring it to the dealer, and they've already said when it does, they'll research/replace whatever it is since it's documented while in warranty.
