I have a 2007 tundra 5.7. Secondary aip went broke 4 months out of the extended warranty. I purchased a bypass kit. It worked for 6 weeks. Then stopped working. Contacted seller and received a new one. The new one only works for about 1 minute after starting the truck then all the dash lights come on and back in limp mode. Any help would be appreciated

Please tell me you did not take the truck in when you got the recall to "flash" the ECU. If you took the truck into the dealer for any other reason and the ECU flash was not done, the tech would do the flash weather you asked or not.

I am confused as why it would work for 6 weeks then stop all of a sudden. Can I ask what bypass kit you got?

My bypass has been working flawlessly for the last 5 years. I did the home made version.

If anyone wants the instruction file, I can post it.

I took the truck to the dealership to be diagnosed before I bought the bypass. I never received a recall notice. I bought the bypass form the internet can't tell you the name of the person right now(I am at work) it is a plug in with no soldering . I am lost as far as why the first one worked for 5 weeks and the new one works for 1 minute

Is the truck in "limp" mode?

Remember, truck goes into limp mode when there is a problem with the pumps. You just get a CEL when the AIP valves are bad.

Have you logged into the Toyotaowners.com web site and entered your VIN. There will be a tab that shows you all the service that was performed by any Toyota dealer.

I'm at work, so it may be a while before I can respond.

I never put the block off plates in either.

Are you sure the issue is not something else?

A bad wheel speed sensor will give you lots of lights too.

I'm guessing you don't have a scanner? Kind of makes it difficult to really know what is going on.

Exactly. I blew the 10A fuse for the BK up lights. Caused the same flashing crap on the display and actually went into limp mode! My scanner indicated faulty tranny position sensor P0705. I found out that the blown BK up light fuse can throw the P0705. Who knew!

He said P2440. If I remember correctly this is one of the common AIP codes.

OP, maybe you have two bad AIP modules. I would contact the seller and have him help you truobleshoot this

I thought most of the bypasses out there bypassed both AIPs?

No he said the first bypass module worked for 5 weeks then stopped working. Then the seller gave him a new module but that stopped working after a day.

He might have been sold two bad modules.

He should buy an OBD reader and try to reset the codes. He should also work with the seller to figure out the problem.

I get it! Cool. Yeah definitely could be faulty design. OBDs are cheap. No reason not to have one. Mine was $8. Bluetooth with your phone.

If this is the one kit I'm thinking of, I think the seller should just refund you your $200.

Build your own for $15. It's very easy.

I just got the code again and looks like I'm about 3 months out of the extended warranty. I'm interested in the bypass kits and "DIY" version. I'm can't spend $2k at the dealer.

I don’t remember getting a recall notice on the ecu flash. The only recall I remember having done was some type of electrical recall.

Could it have been the recall for the power window switch?

I don't see anything on my records of it being related to the ECU flash.

What's the worse that could happen, then? Do the mod and you are out $15-$30. If it doesn't work then you know for sure that the ECU was flashed.

I can't give any more advice than what I've submitted.

It was a gamble when I did the mod and I won the hand. I hope you do as well if you care to take a dare.

I enjoy modding my vehicles, not everyone does. I understand completely.

I have a 2006 Tundra with the 4.7L 2uzfe engine. Will these instructions work for my truck too? I don't have immediate access to the truck to see if everything is the same as it looks like this may be intended for 2007+ tundras.
If it WILL work, I Wish I had known about your instructions ~2 years ago when I bought the ebay kit. I have in the past month started getting the P2440 again with increasing frequency, even on days when the temperature is below 41 degrees all day. I have sometimes had other errors/codes but recently it is ALWAYS P2440. When I put the kit/device in I DID NOT install the block plates. I am right now in the middle of that but stumbled onto this and I wondered if the device I purchased on ebay could have gone bad and be causing my issues.

    1. Is that possible/likely? Is there any way to test it with a volt/ohm multimeter?

    2. Your instructions look fairly easy would I still need to complete the block off plate install to eliminate P2440?
By that I mean if I build/install my own relay/resistor combo device as described are the block off plates needed for that to work as well?

    Thanks!

The instructions were originally from a 1st Gen Tundra. So, yes the instructions should work great.

I never installed the block off plates.

I cleared my codes by disconnecting the battery and have not had one since. (2012)

So... do you think it likely my current "kit" has died?

I'm confused on what relay you would recommend? Would these work?
    Auto Relay https://www.amazon.com/Pack-EPAuto-Relay-Harness-Bosch/dp/B072QXDZRD/
Any way to tell if this one has a diode across the coil before purchasing?
No close by Radioshack (almost an hour drive) so for the 4.7k Ohm resistor: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0185FKBG4/

Your help & opinion is GREATLY appreciated!

You only need one of those relays. Yes it will work for you. I would just buy one from your local auto parts store.

    They will have the resister
