Thanks for the add. Bob from ky. Just bought a 2010 TRD offroad 4X4 and i love it. Wanting to do some aftermarket wheels so i walked into a tire Discounters and was looking. I found some moto metal that i liked and asked about them. The service guy told me that i could not put 18 aftermarket wheels on my truck. He claimed i had to go to 20s to keep from hitting the calipers, and 18s just would not fit my configuration. Has anyone heard of this or dealt with this? I cannot find anything on the net to confirm this. I would really like to run those 18s.

depends on offset. Maybe the 18's that they have had a big offset, and the 20's they have a small offset. Or they just want to up sale you, cause it will be rims, tires and TPMS sensors.

They are full of crap! What size tires are you wanting to run and what offset is the wheel that you are looking at?

All about offset when it comes to that issue. There are literally tens of thousands, if not more, tundras out there with 18's

Unless your truck has bigger brakes than stock, I would think you are ok. My truck came with 18s. Good thing, cuz 20s are a deal breaker for me.

I currently am running 18 Thunderer tracgrip m/ts 33X12.50 on stock Toyota rims. Was wanting to do moto metal 970s with 18mm offset. Guy at td claimed 18 aftermarket wheels will not fit because its a 4X4 trd offroad package. Said has bigger caliper and they would hit. I couldn't make sense out of this as it has 18s on it. He did offer to upgrade me to 20s with new tires. I just walked out. I cannot find anything anywhere that substantiates his claim.

At best you were dealing with an idiot, and at worst a con artist. Good on you for walking out.
