    Greetings y’all

Need some advice. Accident with my 1st gen.

about 19k to get a similar model without a rusted frame (mines clean). Insurance is offering me 15k to keep and repair but with branded title vs 17k to replace.

surprisingly enough found a good conditioned one next state over. Somewhat prefer to repair mine bc I know where it’s been. However much less hassle and not losing value via branded title if I purchase different one. Thoughts?

I feel like more information would be useful, but just going off of what you've stated, I'd be leaning towards keeping your current truck. If you know the current condition of it mechanically, and your maintenance was all up to date, I'd likely keep it over buying another truck that you aren't quite certain what gremlins are hiding in it. I'd rather stay with a known value than an unknown value.

More details and pics of damage. @shifty will check in soon. He’s one of the 1st gen gurus.

not sure what state you’re in but some places will issue restored titles after repairs.

Does the salvage title really matter? If you won’t sell it wrecked under what circumstance would you ever sell it?

Possibly when trading in? Also, insurance look on salvage/branded title very unkindly......

I think in an old truck it doesn’t matter. Old truck is worth what condition it’s in only unless a collector truck.

If repairs aren’t structural / future issues/safety AND plan to keep for as long as possible, keep and repair.

If issues could arise in future and plan to sell relatively soon anyway, flip to new one.

New one will need maintenance and tweaks to get it to where yours is most likely. So additional cost.

All depends on what kind of repairs you’re talking.

If insurance gave me 17k for my FGT, I would lose my sentimental attachment immediately and find another unwrecked FGT that tickled my fancy with the money. And yes, I know where mine's been the last 19 years and am quite attached to it. So much so I kept it when I bought my 2019.
