I ordered 6112s and installed them a while back. They are on 1st clip. Can I lift them up a couple clips while on the truck or is this a bad idea?

Nope. Unfortunately, you need to remove the strut, disassemble it, move the circlip, reassemble, then reinstall. It’s not difficult if you have a decent spring compressor, but takes a couple of hours. The circlip and groove are hidden by the collar; you would need to compress the spring quite a bit to even get access to it, then deal with trying to move the clip while working in a confined space. It’s much easier to simply remove them first.

It's very rare that something isn't possible. But this, not possible. You need to remove and disassemble.

Negative. They need to be removed and disassembled to remove the clip and put it in another position.
