I've got a Leer shell on my 2003 Tundra. The rubber 'boot' or 'gasket' that forms the seal between the cab and shell is falling off. I was wondering what would be a decent adhesive to re-attach it? I know there's a 3M adhesive for this . . . but it seems a bit pricey for the quantity you get. Ideally I'd like something that dries reasonably fast . . . but NOT super-glue fast, and not something so slow that I have to leave it 'taped-up' waiting for some 'goop' to dry.
    Any advice would be appreciated.

Can you post a picture of this seal? Not clear on what you're talking about.

I will in the am . . . it's dark here now. Sorry for the poor explanation / wording.
It's the rubber trim / weather stripping that runs 360 degrees around the front portion of the shell . . . when you mount the shell on your truck, you kind of push the shell forward, and the 'rubber piece' sort of forms a seal against the back of the truck cab.
It keeps rain / water from falling between the cab and shell gap, if that makes sense . . . .

I think so. I bought some for my shell. It's called double bulb. You can buy it on Amazon but I got a better deal from my local dealer. You can find your closest LEER dealer and see how much they would charge you.

I think he means this seal is falling off and he wants to know the best adhesive to reattach it....which I don't have an answer for unfortunately.

yes .... this was what fell off.
I took it completely off and cleaned it well with acetone. It was pretty thrashed. I taped-off the shell portion & wiped it down w/ acetone as well. Then I used the 3M 77 spray on both sides and re-fit it. I used tape to hold it in place while it dried. I put the shell back on & it seemed to work pretty well.

If I was more into it .... I definitely would’ve called Leer & purchased a new rubber moulding. Also ... I would recommend and adhesive that has more ‘gap-filling’ properties as the fiberglass-to-rubber fit is pretty shallow & there are some voids along the length.

    Thanks for the advice.

Black silicon from home depot. Usually the DAP Alex Plus stuff works for me. It's a bit messy, wear gloves.

3M weatherstripping adhesive. Found at almost any auto parts store. You will probably need only 1 tube. Follow the instructions and you should be good to go.

Given the age of this thread, I am guessing the OP fixed his problem 8 months ago. Good input though

Update . . . the 3M spray eventually failed and it fell down again. So as mentioned above, I purchased 2 tubes of 3M weatherstripping adhesive (stuff is killer) . . . cleaned the boot as best as I could with acetone (it was/is in terrible condition) and sanded the fiberglass portion of the shell and cleaned with acetone as well. It was kind of a 2-person job . . . 1 to hold the boot and cut masking tape, the other to apply the adhesive to both side of the entire opening and boot. We secured it every 4-inches with 3m blue painters masking tape to keep pressure on the boot. I left it all on in the warm sun for 5-6 hours. I then cut the masking tape with a razor blade, so only the 'inside' of the boot was taped to the carpet on the shell. We then carefully pushed the shell back agains the cab which kind of pressed the entire boot in place allowing it to re-form the seal. I fastened the shell back to the bed and called it a day. The next day I removed the remaining masking tape from the inside of the shell and everything was supper tight and clean.

Oh yeah . . . before I pushed it back against the cab . . . I ran a small bead of the 3m adhesive along the top of the boot for good measure.

FWIW, If I wasn't selling the truck, I would've pony'd up the dough for a new boot. This one was so thrashed, I'll be surprised if it lasts a year. I'm selling it to a friend and gave him the option to buy the boot . . . but he said, "Shine that, I'm not worried about it".
