Hi all! Hope all is going well. I just recently purchased a 2021 Tundra Limited with a OR package (army green). I'm looking for some guidance for the rear suspension settings of a lift I just recently purchased and plan on installing.

    Lift I purchased :
To be preventative, I will be using the diff drop kit that came with the RC lift and I've also purchased a carrier bearing drop kit.

    Questions I have :
    • I've been reading your helpful comments the last few days and I've started to learn about the benefit of using shackles. In fact, I don't really want to use the rear blocks that come with this lift if I don't have to. Leveraging CouchBuilders products, would the CB2 or CB3 be adequate for a leveled truck considering the 3.5 lift?
    • I plan on leveraging the stock OR wheels which are +60 offset and I believe 8 inches wide. Would a 295/70/18 tire be a good fit with some minor trimming?

Thank you all for your help!

You don’t need 3.5 inches of lift to clear if using stock wheels…gonna ride like crap dude

I think you should be fine on your tire size. I have 34.7x11.2 tires on +50mm 9in wide TSS wheels. This size fit without cutting or bending plastic on just a level kit.

This is concerning. I understand 3.5 is not exactly needed to clear 295's but I felt like that would look proportional? No? Please explain :)

Perfect! Thank you. The one thing I'm not so sure about is if the RC UCA's are going to get in the way in comparison to the stock ones.

Nah, if anything it gives you littler more room than the stock ones. At least that’s what my ReadyLift UCA’s did.

Next tire size I’ll get will be either 35x12.5 or 37x11.5.

That tall of a spacer lift will ride kinda harsh. screen-shot-2018-01-31-at-7-16-32-am_orig.jpg

This can also happen if they are compressed too much.

Thanks for sharing, keep in mind, this is not the spacer lift from Rough Country that i'm using. I actually purchased the full coilover lift with struts, etc. There are two options on that one.

Excellent choice. Nothing to see here then.

I would go with the Toytec rear lift shackles at one inch.

I'm going with 295/70 tire size on 25 offset with a 2 inch lift and should have no issues. At most I will go 2.5 lift down the line but I think 2 inch w be a good balance between clearance and ride. You will get an inch lift with the tires and another 2 from the body. That's plenty for most people. Many ppl say 295/70 is the perfect size for tundras.

Nice, I agree MadMax! I'm going to order my 295/70's today. Just trying to track down what shackles are going to be adequate if I don't use the rear steel blocks that come with the kit.

Here is my Tundra for reference. 3/1.5 on 295/70/18. I had slight rubbing on the front finder liner but nothing a little heat gun couldn’t take care of. I think with a 3.5 lift the 295/70/18 would look too small. 35/12.5 would be the way to go. @Toytec Lifts shackles have both a 1 and 1.5 inch setting.

Stock wheels will fit tires very differently than 18x9 aftermarkets just keep that in mind.

look at pictures of TRD Pro models with bigger tires. Same wheel size as yours, they fit 295/70 with 2 inch lift.

Feel free to ask away @jetso . That’s what we are all here for. Are the Rough Country coilovers adjustable?

@TwistedTad - thank you sir. Great question, I don't think so. Here is a picture of the actual config I got.

They do not appear to be adjustable. Again, I think the 295’s might look a little small on a 3.5 lift. I believe some tire companies make a 35/11.5. Either way I’m sure you are going to like the look of your truck. Again, please feel free to ask away!!!

Here's a side profile of my truck in case it helps. I also agree that factory wheels won't look as aggressive as an aftermarket wheel with a lower offset. Therefore, I would also highly recommend a 35 x11.5 at a minimum.

Good advice guys. It looks like 35/11.5 is limited on tire choices. Tire rack and discount tire only show one tire type. I just pulled the trigger on 295/70/18. Wondering what the stance will look like and it if it will proportional, haha. Overall, I've got a few outstanding questions that i'm trying to track down.

    • For the rear, the kit comes with rear blocks. Should I use those and get a CB shackle 2 or 3?
    • Should i not use the rear block and just use the 1.75 CB3 shackle? Will that be level?
    • Should I use a CB shackle + a add-a-leaf pack to mitigate the use of a rear block and axle wrap?

I feel like I'm on the last stretch to understanding how this is going to all come together.. lol. You guy's are awesome, ty for donating your time to help yet another clueless aspiring tundra builder :)

Here is a tire size comparison of a 295/70/18 and a 285/75/18. The 285/75/18 is slightly taller and slightly narrower which would help on the factory rims. I’m no tire expert but hopefully more people will chime in.

@jetso ditch the blocks and go with shackles. Again, I used the @Toytec Lifts shackles at the 1.5 setting and still have a slight rake with the 3 inch front lift. 3.5 front and 1.5 in the rear would be level.

That's essentially the tire size I have in my picture lol (34.7 x 11.2). Either way, I think OP's truck will look great with 3.5 lift.

The CB3 shackles at 1.75 inches would give you about .25 inches of rear rake. I decided to keep some of my rear rake for towing or while under any load in the rear.

This is super great info. I feel more confident now in purchasing those CB3's. Thank you for putting it into perspective with your ride. I think the .25 rake would be great since I often haul 1-2 full size KTM dirtbikes. I'll look into wheel spacers and keep that top of mind, hopefully they are not needed but I'll read through that thread!

Can't go wrong with coachbuilder, that's what I'm going with. Only downside is width. I will run my 295 spare at low psi with a ratchet strap around the diameter to suck it in most likely. The CBs also come with appropriately sized carrier drop bearings. Toytec are good too but no where near as beefy.

This is what i've read too. I may have to do some work with those tabs to get a proper spare to fit. Nevertheless; both brands are likely better than stock. Sounds like those bushings in the shackles are helpful for a better ride as well.

No doubt. Toytec and Coachbuilder both come with bushings.

Once thing I would suggest is getting feedback from others with the same lift before choosing your shackles. I considered the same lift a while back and read many accounts that the coilovers actually lifted a little more than 3.5 inches in the front.
