I have a 2025 SR5 with the dual USB power ports for the rear seat passengers, but no inverter plug.

I removed the back panel apart and the 12vt/inverter plug has a blank fitted, and it has a pre wired plug in wire that just needs to be plugged in.

I am looking at finding out what i need to install a regular Cigarette lighter port (the same one on the top of my dash).

Has anyone done this and what part/or what is the easiest plug n play kind of thing that needs to be done.

    Thank you in advance.

Does the back panel just pop out, or is it more complicated? I'd like to check to see if mine is pre-wired. I have a '22 SR5, does not include the usb chargers so I'm doubting it's wired for the 12v plug...

Yes Sir, the back panel just pops out. Remove the rear cup holder piece by pulling up, that exposes the rear vent panel. Pull backwards and you will see the wiring harness and plugs. The blank i had for the factory inverter has a plug and is prewired. I chose to run wiring from the battery ,through the fire wall, under the dash and along the center console. ( i easily tucked away the wiring). Ran the wire straight back to the inverter plug blank, drilled a hole in the blank, and wired up/installed the a cigarette lighter style plug for my 12vt connections.

I already have a portable inverter that I can now plug into the cigarette light and also have several items that i can plug in from the back instead of draping an extention from the top of the dash. I wanted a simple install to give me options. I will try and post pics later.

I recently got a power bank for camping and have been paying attention more to the DC plugs. Have you thought about just an anderson connection or the 5521 plug rather than the cig lighter? Not sure if that would even make sense for what you are trying.

It should be pretty easy to just get an RV type 12V plug and install it on the little pop-out panel that's a blank for the 120V inverter. The safest place to hook up the 12V power would be to piggyback off the dash 12V outlet unless you need high power draw on both outlets.

If you're thinking about using this new outlet to power a portable refrigerator then you'll likely want to find a constant 12V source so that it doesn't shut down every time you turn off the truck (like at a gas station). I would also install a switch in this case because if you're connected directly to the 12V battery then you can easily completely drain the battery if you forget to turn off what ever is connected to it.
