No the Multi terrain monitor does not activate with just the change of the switch. I still have just the normal panoramic view monitor screen. Not sure how you get that multi terrain monitor view. Perhaps when you swap to the other 4 wheel drive computer? I would love to know for sure where that option resides?

Did you perform “zero point calibration”? Or just install module?

Is after installed module of mts/crawl
    1.-turn on ignition switch
2.-putting togheter 4 times terminals CG and TS ( for tacoma i Belive is pin 4 and 12 from the computer were you scan for codes) . You’ll see flashing Dashboard
    3.-turn off
4.- turn ignition switch by holding them together and thats pretty much it

Wouldn't you need the cameras under the truck to have them activate? I have to assume vehicles that came with MTS as OEM and had the pano view got the cameras under the truck. I just have a vanilla SR5...nothing special

I only have installed the switch in my 2022 Tundra which I believe is step one. See 1st post of thread. The installation of the switch was plug and play and did not require a zero point calibration. When I added MTS and crawl control to my wife's GX460 I did need to perform the zero point calibration after I installed the driver module behind the dash see the thread https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/46...ct-mts-to-2010-2019-models-all-trims.1040976/ to my knowledge nobody has taken the next step to purchase and install the 4 wheel drive control computer referenced in the 1st post.

There isn't a camera under the truck. It uses the front camera and timing to show you what would be under your truck. It's computer trickery. There is no "live view" under the truck, it's a calculated prerecorded image that moves on your screen to show you what is now under your truck. The camera hardware is already there for the fancy camera view, it just may need the 4x4 computer module to make it work. I'm not sure why Toyota didn't give every truck with 4x4 the multi terrain monitor view. Even if you don't plan on "off roading", it sure would be nice to have when you do use 4 wheel drive for any reason. If it is figured out that we only need the 4x4 computer module to make this work, I will definitely be getting one.

Now you have me intrigued, if it is possible to actually get the multi terrain view without the pano option installed on the truck I would absolutely want it. Following.....more than I was before o_O.

Doubful. I assume if you do not have PVM then you do not have the front camera (in the grille). The front camera is the one used for the "under the vehicle" view that is done via delayed playback of the front view. If you've never seen the under the vehicle view system in operation, once the view is selected you need to drive forward a couple feet before you can see what's under the truck. This is because it is simply taking the front camera view and playing it back later when that section of ground would be under the vehicle. It is not a live view.

I ordered both, the switch from Bay and the 4 wheel drive controller thru the dealer.
I should get these in hand in few days and I will do the installation myself. I just hope that the new controler does fit the existing plugs. I am going to ask the dealer to run it thru an update on the Toyota tech stream next week. I will update at that time.

I presume since the Tundra has a traditional 4x4 system, it's not going to help at all in regards to changing road conditions. It'd still bind up when you try to turn on a patch of road with traction.

Tundra does not have a Torsen diff in the middle like a 2nd gen Sequoia , Gx or Land cruiser

    Yes , it binds

    Hello!

i have a tacoma 2020 4x4 trd sport and i just purchase an overhead console of the offroad version on junkyard (its a 2016 offroad version) reviewing toyota schematics crawl control module accord intento my research is 84977-35030 is same since 2016 . However when i installed it (module+harness) nothing happed. Maybe next step is to purchase ECU 89953A that is 4WD computer with lockers. I tought my ECU should be same due to also 4x4 but i Don’t know.
    Have any comments or sugestions?

    Well,
I did changes the computer and the switch. Went to the dealer today and they run it thru Toyota security and the rest. Getting a locking differential flashing light that they can not get rid off and DAC not working. Unless the guy doesn’t know what has to be done ?? Is safe to say that I just wasted $700
Hopefully someone smarter on this forum can find a solution to make this work.
I can post few extra pics of the process but as of yet , I see no point. BB1F0DC8-3101-4E43-8CB3-B73518998CDB.jpg image.jpg

If is only this , maybe we can use a fake signal the same way CBI offer for the front spoiler when you install their bumper. This would work only if there is a plug under that would go to the locking differential.

Is there a plug on the harness to plug in just the actuator from a trd OR? Looks like this is the part...

    Hello guys!

im doing same thing to my tacoma 4x4 trd sport and this os what i find so far:

1.-tacoma 4x4 uses 2 different ECU, one for the simple 4x4 (89533-04060)and other for the offroad package (89533-04080). So make sure that you purchase proper ECU . Some dealers Don’t even know the difference.

2.- i purchase crawl control/MTS but for tacoma is also required a harness

3.- looking on toyota parts page all diagrams seem to be a special harness for the offroad/pro aside of the ABS sensor . I’ll try without it as soon as my ECU arrives.

4.-locking differential seems to be hole different story. There is an special harnes that is connected on ABS sensor and keep in mind that “locker” byitself i Don’t know yet what Brand is the OEM i think eaton e locker it is not (read this on tacoma fórum)

So after everything no lights no nothing?

My backup plan is to add couple of engineer that work in toyota to LinkedIn maybe add them to your network and ask them what else is required

I spent little bit more time at the dealer with the Master Tech and he is trying to help me.
At this time we have confirmation that there is no difference between the two computers from outside. I am saying that the numbers of pins are the same, based on what they are telling me. the difference could be on the harness.
Looks like I have to confirm two things before we move to another
#1- the harness that connects to 4 wheel drive computer have #6 and #7 wire.
The only way I can confirm that is if I take everything apart and look at the plugs. If I do this then the Christmas tree will light up again and I have to go back to the dealer and erase the codes. $$$
Unless someone can confirm this another way
#2- confirm that, there is a plug in the harness somewhere close to the Differential
I got these two diagram that can help us if anyone more inclined want to pitch in image.jpg0149034E-0408-4888-BC44-EF8EA0345AAC.jpg

If we can find that, there is a continuation from the computer out close to the differential and a unused plug with three pins?? He said that should be easy to trick the ecu thinking that there is a locking differential inside.

A resistive load (correct vale resistor) across those pins would look to the computer like a solenoid winding, if that's indeed true thats its just two pins and no feedback... I find that hard to believe because it knows when the locker engages.

    Very true.

Had a guy with a 2020 TRD Pro next to me at the pump a couple months ago. I let him check out the interior of my truck. He immediately asked about MTS, CRAWL, and the rear locker the moment he saw the dial on the center console. He said he was going to start making calls about putting a deposit down on a new Pro. I think he was only partially joking. haha.

I didn't realize that the 2.5 Gen Pros didn't have it. I was surprised since Toyota has had it on the Taco and 4R for awhile, no?

Looks like is getting more complicated every hour. I will crawl under tonight to see if any of these are there.
26 variations?? Wonder how much they can save by not having one single harness with all the plugs there. One thing is clear at list. Nothing that the dealer have to program into anymore, based on what they told me. Is all about harness and signal. If that makes any sense.
    Really appreciate your help.

I have a Capstone with the power steps

I am thinking that they separated in at list three categories
    TRD Pro and Off road
    Capstone and Limited
    Sr5 and Sr
