Haven't had the truck 4 months yet and was hit by a Lexus IS350 F-Sport.

    2017 Crewmax 4x4 SR5 on 6" lift

It would have been a head-on as he crossed center line. I swerved right and his driver front hit my driver rear wheel. I was traveling about 35mph, his speed was 40-45mph in opposite direction. Hell of a hit but we were fine. No airbags deployed. But I do wonder about the frame. That was alot of energy into the rear axle and rear portion of the frame. They found the bilstein shock about 45 feet away from the accident.

    Thoughts?

Sucks man. That is some damage that I wouldn’t be comfortable fixing and keeping assuming it’s not totaled. The axle got F’d up.

Sorry to hear that. Hope you are okay.

The GS350 that hit you looks like it's totaled, not sure about your truck.

At those speeds, tho still relatively slow, that was just a fraction of a second from being a head on collision. Glad you are okay. Sucks for your truck.

Glad you're both ok.....certainly could have bee a lot worse. That said, I would take down the diagram and refrain from commenting on specifics until it is decided by insurance. If a lawsuit were to occur, they can use anything you say or post against you. I would imagine that will be an expensive repair but the truck can be replaced. Again, glad everyone walked away.

Very similar to my accident a few years ago. My truck ended up totaled but I had an airbag deployment, frame damage and the transmission tailshaft was cracked. This was also before the ridiculous price increases of used vehicles due to the pandemic.

The real pisser is I didn't have a dashcam up on this one yet. I have run dashcams on my vehicles for the last 8yrs. The truck I traded for this one, I had hardwired it in and didn't want to mess with removing it. I had a 2017 Tacoma totaled in Jan 2020 (T-boned). The dashcam caught that accident.

They have already found the other party at fault as they obviously crossed the center line. I honked as once the car started coming into my lane. I assumed they were on the phone, but when the horn didn't get his attention, I swerved thankfully. We did a 900º spin. Had my youngest daughter with me (13yrs old). Just going to grab dinner. Happened less than quarter mile from our house, and wife heard the boom and walked outside and her phone rang. The whole thing was awful, but we all walked away...which is most important.

Very similar. That is something I also worry about is the sudden binding of the driveshaft at the transmission when he hit me. I wonder what kind of damage that does to a tranny also.

I can’t imagine that it won’t be totaled. That seems like an awful lot of damage and to major expensive parts

    My Thoughts????

    FUCK that sucks!

Really glad to hear you and daughter are ok!

If they don't total that, I would be surprised.
Can't believe your airbags didn't deploy, not sure if that's right :monocle:

Regardless as a brand-new truck, you should try to replace it if they don't total it.
Make sure to go after dismissed value with insurance also.
Even though prices are high right now, even once it's fixed, it will still be worth less now that it was been wrecked.

You guys were really lucky man.

Sometimes Toyota products are attracted to one another, sometimes other drivers are dumbasses or having a medical issue.

    This happened near your house?
    Dam....
You just lost a Tacoma to being hit by someone else very recently also?
    Goddam....

Is there something in the water where you live?
    I would consider moving, maybe.

Really sorry you have been going through these trying times.

Just glad your all ok

Please let us know how it all goes.

All these accident posts are making me scared to drive mine now lol.
I probably could not replace it, as I require a specific color and trim, in my used price range.
I would likely be SOL as it took me 6 months pre-kungflu to find this one within 400miles of me.

At least you know how safe they are.

But dam your luck man :(

The video of the Tacoma hit (sound off) does not look bad.
Glad you posted that still shot also as that is a lot worse than the video looks*!

Maybe you should upgrade to bumper cars?
    Otherwise maybe tanks?

Hang in there, the misery has to end eventually.
Do you have any more vehicles left?

Believe it or not that hit on the Tacoma did $22,000 damage. The Infinity hit right behind the passenger front tire and damaged the UHSS portion of the cab corner. Based on that, they totaled it. Labor was going to be insane.

Just a quick update. Initial estimate it is...keep in mind it was done virtually by an adjuster with USAA.
For now, $11,430. That includes a full scan of the frame as well.

The shop has it and will tear it down this next week and give a full proper write up.

Of note, the current estimate has them fixing the right and left bed panels and paint.
A drive shaft (Dorman Preston), a new left axle shaft, all new axle housing, both sets of leaf springs replaced, and some other stuff.

I am going to make sure the shop looks at the transmission closely.
I am guessing cash value of truck is $36-38K....and in AR it is 70% of value to total. It might very well get fixed.

Accidents suck bad. Nothing you can do about it but........Don't talk about the accident on the World Wide Web.

Peace of mind is hard to get back after a truck is damaged like that.

Been a long time since an update. Total tally was $16K+ in damage. They have been waiting 6 weeks on a left bedside outer skin. National back order.
I asked what value they placed on truck to determine totaling threshold and it was $41,699.

    Other insurance accepted full liability.

My thought is you should be praising God that you’re still alive. That could have ended up much differently had you not been paying attention.
