Noticed recently I never had the follow-up cruise display to work. Basically those 3 white dots never shows up. I have it worked the first 500 miles and never worked afterwards. Same driving conditions same speed. What’s was it’s trigger Criteria and does it have an on/off setting?

Any body had any idea? Appreciated.

When you changed the following distance it never extended on the screen? Could you have been at the minimum distance the whole time?

no. Not the following distance. I’m talking about the 3 white dot. When that shows up it follows/ mimicking the front vehicle’s track. It’s additional to the basic ACC..

I think it's "falling back" to vehicle tracking when it can't reliably register lane markings. If lanes are recognizable, it shows blue guides on the sides and keeps the following distance.

As for why it fails to register the lanes - I have no idea. I'm driving my regular commute and sometimes it keeps blue guides and sometimes switches to 3 dots - seems pretty random.

So weird, it has the 3 dot vehicle tracking came on every time no matter it recognizes the lane or not in the first 500 miles. Now the same road same following distance same traffic it never comes on for 5000 miles. It really helps a lot when the vehicle is on so I want it working…

I looked it up a while ago. The three white dots indicate that the truck cannot see the lines on the side of the road. The truck is literally following the car in front of you.

This is all new in the latest version of Safety Sense. 2.5 in ‘22/23 MY don’t have the white dots. It uses the blue bars to tell you it’s locked-on to road lines. The white lines tell you the system is turned on. I see now in 3.0 there are 4 following distance settings vs 3 and has smoother acceleration than in 2.5 where it raced back to the car ahead and then braked hard. All a learning curve it seems.

My MY23 does the 3 white dots. Also, to clarify, the white lines indicate to tell you if the system can see that roadside lane marker/line. If it is on it can see it, if it is off it cannot. The blue zones that appear outside the lane markers indicated that the system has engaged lane centering assist and will automatically correct steering input by itself to keep the vehicle in the center of the lane.
