We have a leased 2019 Tundra 4x4 trd offroad with the 5.7 liter V8.

Lately when we go to turn on the AC it works but when it first starts up theres almost a grinding crunching sound when it first starts but then runs fine.

Any ideas, again its a leased truck and we have it for 2 more years.
My leased 2016 never did that and aside from the color is the exact same truck.

    Thanks everyone.

I believe that’s normal for the Tundras from what I’ve read on here .

My 2020 doesn't do it. Leave the AC off and take it to the dealer and have them research it. That's what warrantys are for!

Exactly. and 95% of the time, anything crunching and/or grinding, is never a good or "normal" sign

    Mine is a 2019
Does the same thing when it sets for a couple days without driving it

noticed if I turn ac off and crank truck up and let engine get to operating temp then cut ac on it won’t do it

my guess is liquid refrigerant migrating to compressor
Don’t believe there is an accumulator to catch liquid but only a liquid/ suction heat exchanger
    Kinda crappy design
