I turn on my AC- I can hear the compressor click on. It blows air out of all vents. Sometimes it’s cold and other times not. When it is cold- it only lasts for a bit (depending on if I get on freeway- then it’s warm air).
Had someone tell me that my Freon/coolant needed to be flushed and set at exact level. (Currently when I check - the gage is in the yellow- so I have Freon)
Does anyone have experience with this?
Can you flush and clean air at home?
Maybe it’s something else- I live in Phoenix and wish I had a knowledgeable and trustworthy mechanic here
Any feed back will be helpful- thanks

You probably won’t be able to perform a vacuum, leak down test and recharge if you don’t already have the proper equipment. It should be filled by weight, and then the pressures confirmed. It’s likely low refrigerant causing your symptoms.

Get a can of 134a with a gauge and hose ($40-$80) top off freon easy instructions on can
If this doesn't work you'll probably have to take it to a shop and get hooked up to the ac machine $800-$1500

When I mentioned the coolant was in the yellow- that meant it has plenty of coolant- most cars are fine if system is charged past the green or safe zone (as long as you don’t over charge system too much)-
I guess my confusion is- are Tundras so touchy that the coolant has to be set at an exact level to work?
At least that’s what I’m being told.
As far as the compressor- it does click on but I guess it could be turning off after I’m driving without hearing it. I’m also being told that the Tundra does “turn off” the AC system if there are issues to protect the compressor (true or false??)
It does sound like I need to take it in if it needs to be vacuum’d out
    Thanks

Yep sorry my confusion forgot gage reads gyr
Find a reputable shop they should have a standard ac service =evacuate system, refill with freon and conditioners, check entire system
If your system is full they might be able to find another issue maybe cheaper but they'll probably just want to hook it up to the machine
