    Hi Everyone,

My AC light is still blinking after replacing that gray relay on a 2014 Tundra Platinum. Does anyone know what else is causing the AC light to continue blinking after replacing that gray relay? Thanks in advance!

    Is the compressor running?

Could it be the A/C clutch?

Not sure how to check the AC clutch but I just YouTubed it. Looks like I just need to spin the outer disc to see if it spins or if it's locked up?

See if the inner part is spinning with the engine running.
    Do you have cold air?

It's much lower than the video but you can see if it is spinning with a flashlight.

    1. Check the actual clutch on the compressor, get someone to sit in the cab with the truck running, look down at the compressor and have them turn the ac on by pressing the button
    - you should see the clutch move towards the compressor, if it moved in but the compressor doesn’t engage then the clutch is worn out.
    - if the clutch doesn’t move in it’s not getting power. (Assuming you have enough pressure in the system to actually engage the system… meaning the pressure switch is functioning) Where’d you get the relay from?

I'll check it with my co-worker when I get off work in a little bit. The AC works but doesn't sometimes when the AC light is flashing. I just keep turning the AC on and off until I get some AC but lately when it's blinking, it just stays blinking when I keep turning it on and off.

Sounds like the clutch is bad

I don't see it going in or out but I do see it turn then stop then turn then stop and so on. Right now the AC light is not flashing and the AC is cold. But is it normal to not spin when the AC is on? Also when the AC is off then it doesn’t spin at all.

I bought the relay on eBay. It’s the OEM relay with Toyota printed on it. Part #: 90987-02028

Check the ground wire to the compressor clutch.

It’s short cycling. Probably a pressure issue… either really low, or you have a blockage causing a high pressure condition.

10 years is about that time and ‘tis the season for A/C problems

I would not trust that that is a factory part; when I had the same issue you did, the one I got on Amazon was a fake with a cap to make it look oem. Not saying ebay is as bad as amazon, but the best place for factory parts is the dealer

Do you have anymore info? Why did you replace the relay? Was it blinking before?

Not necessarily, just as likely the clutch is worn out

Also could be the flow sensor inside the compressor. If that is bad it will not engage the clutch

I guess I'll just replace the whole compressor. Any tips on how to deal with the old freon? Do I just remove the lines with the freon like a water line and not worry about the freon spraying everywhere?

Do yourself a favor and get a proper diagnosis. At the very least, buy or borrow a set of gauges to see what is going on with your system pressures.

If you’re set on replacing the compressor, replace the condenser and expansion valve while you’re at it.

ETA: have you scanned to see if there are any HVAC related codes? Could be an issue with the control unit.
