I had hot air on the driver's side and cold air on the passenger side when running the air conditioner. Al conversations lead me to believe I was having issues with the blend doors which require the removal of the dash. I was going to do it but turned it over to my "guy". He replaced the parts in the blend doors without removing the dash. That wasn't the culprit. He was going to replace a control modulator. He plugged that into the system and no change in thew ac output. He was able to send that part back. He finally pinpointed the issue to a wiring harness that ties into a panel. It is located behind the radio. Mice had crewed through the wires which are really light, maybe 18 gauge or so.
I am so blessed to have such a talented guy working on my truck. The bill was much less than we had originally discussed (replacing the blend door hardware) and I can now drive with the benefit of cool air...
Just wanted to let interested parties know it's not always the blend doors.

From how you described your problem I wouldn’t have thought it was a blend door issue. When it is the blend door you wouldn’t be getting any air through the vent no cold or hot air. My blend door failed while in the defrost position I can get air ( hot or cold)but only through the defrost vents

Toyotas usually have 3 sysrems with multiple doors. One actuator move the air through combo of defrost front and lower areas. Second moves door from heater core to evaporator to change air temp and third move the recirc door. Cars with two zone temp control will have two of the second type.
