ABS, Traction and 4 HiLo are blinking after the door locks starting to drive.

Read Code C0215 rear left wheel speed sensor.

Replaced sensor and noticed lots of oil in bearing; bearing rolls fine.

    Verified sensor functioning properly.

Bought a new bearing and seals.

A repair shop realized they couldn’t replace the bearing after they had it on the hoist and brakes off.(today)

A machine shop said they couldn’t remove the old bearing if l pulled axle and brought the axle and new bearing to them.(today)

Looking for advice to avoid the dealer.
I can pull and install the axle…

I literally just changed both rear bearings on my '09 today.

Pulled the axles and took the axle/bearings to the machine shop.

They pressed off the old bearings and pressed on new bearings.

You have a sad machine shop if they can't accomplish this job.

Fwi. The dealer quoted me $3500 to do the job. I did it myself for $850.

The truck was on jack stands for 2 days, but it would have been 2 days at the dealer as well.

In regards to your dash lights, you definitely broke a speed sensor.

You do not want oil in your bearings. The bearings are pre loaded with grease. The gear lube will break down the grease and cause the bearing to fail.

The seals on the axle are there to prevent oil from contaminating the wheel bearings and causing them to fail.

Already replaced, -$170, but the oil is covering the magnet in the bearing.

l bought 2 SKF seals 23692. I have doubts about saving the original bearing even though it rolls fine at the moment, so l bought an SKF bearing BR930616. Bought from US supplier Rock Auto, which l’m not familiar with, as they don’t have stores in Canada.

I did this job last week. Go buy a 20 ton press and the special puller tool. Will cost about 300. You will need to rent a ball joint press kit to get a suitable ring for pressing on the bearings though you could get away with two thick steel bars

not that hard. Several posts here and tacoma world (same bearing style) and several videos out there.

it took me maybe 6 hours per side for the whole job, including seals. $3500 is insane.

you should be able to find a shop to do the press work for you. MANY vehicles use this style of bearings that must be pressed on and off.
