Got every thing done except seat recover and dye for other seats. Truck drives good with the new slightly taller narrower tires. Driveshaft disconnect works good .Instructions were to out pull knob under driver seat but I put it under the removable front tray in the console so no one can accidentally pull and disconnect the drive shaft plus it was easier to route cable strait back to the disconnect apparatus , just gotta pop tray out when I need to access which is only when I make trips in Motorhome. New brakes are good but pedal is spongy after several rounds bleeding. Seems that the brakes were a bit spongy before I started this but not as noticable so could be time for a master cylinder. Will bleed again tomorrow and see if theres any improvement. Still gotta do some paint work and install front wheel caps20190407_185952.jpg 20190407_185957.jpg

What is the purpose of the drive shaft disconnect? So it can't be stolen? Genuinely curious..

Most of the time for flat towing behind a RV, saves the transmission.

Well, it is a pretty good theft deterrent but the purpose is for flat towing ( all four tires on ground) behind a motorhome . There are certain vehicles that can be towed without modifications , generally 4x4 with a neutral option on the transfer case or a manual trans . The kit is quite expensive but the one I bought came with a driveshaft. If I bought the just the shift mechanism I would have spent about 775
00 but then I would of needed the old shaft cut and the disconnect welded and rebalanced . 20190408_075743.jpg 20190408_075813.jpg

The shifter pic is from the drivers side but the other side shows the cable attached to an arm that when pulled forward will pull the gold looking arms foward which slides the round collar foward thus disconnecting drive shaft. You can see the splines under the disconnect collar but you cant see that the front portion is actually separated from the rear portion because the collar hides it . Somewhat like a manual trans shifting into neutral.

Pic is from pass side. Works great but not 100% satisfied with how you mount the whole shifter . It is held on via large u bolt . I added a few ties that are wasy too small to sort of hold in place but will remove them and am thinking of several ways to insure the ubolt doesent slip foward. I am thinking About removing a couple of the diff cover nuts and putting a bracket in each with a seperate hole( like you see on all sorts of other applications like a throttle cable or whatever)and connecting the upper portion of the big u bolt to the bracket with a turn buckle or something similar.
