    Hello,
I am attempting to install a new section of the a/c suction line on a Tundra 2002 V-8, that goes from the compressor to a union under the air cleaner assembly. I cannot open the plastic retainer that couples the line to the next section of line that connects to the evaporator.
I have tried putting individual pins into the 2 holes in the connector, but no luck.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Ken

This fellow used what I'm used to using when doing trim removal....a trim tool. It's a long way around the barn video but starting at 1:50 mark, he shows how he did it. It somewhat mimics what the FSM shows using their Toyo SST tool.

here you go, I just changed that line like a week or two ago, those clips suck. I will add that I don't know which clip yours looks like but if its the one in the picture I shared you need to press down into that tiny hole pretty firmly, doing that will depress the metal tab inside and allow the clip to open up. I tried not to move the airbox out of the way for the longest but it really was worth it to have the extra space in there.

I bought a clamp from Toyota, figuring I might break the old one. After studying the new clamp and purchasing a Toyota tool to remove the clamp, I gave up trying to remove the old clamp in an orderly fashion. I jammed a screwdriver in the split and the clamp opened without breaking. LOL I wonder if parts like this are purposely designed to discourage amateurs from repairing their vehicles?
