I have a 17 Tundra Platinum Crew Cab, and ever since day one when I bought it new, the a/c works, but is so slow to produce cold air. The dealership has checked it before and claims everything is fine, but compared to other trucks and cars I have owned which would go from zero to morgue as far as cold air in 5-10 seconds, it has me wondering if that's just the norm with the Tundra. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated being I now live in Texas and as such deal with a lot more hot days.

Its going to take longer the hotter is outside obviously. One thing you can do is not use recirculation until it cools a bit. The recirc makes the initial cooling take longer. Also, I found that leaving the fan speed in the middle until it starts cooling speeds up the process. I feel like fan at max moves air faster than it can be cooled so it feels like it stays hotter longer.

I also do not use recirculation air at first when it’s hot, also roll down the back windows a bit to ‘purge’ or pressurize the cabin till it gets cool, then put the windows up and recirculate.

I will say that my 2002 ranger and my dads 2000 excursion both cool considerably faster than any foreign brand car I have ever had. No small part why I had that truck for so long. I think the newer refrigerant is just not as good as the 134A was.

I can remember growing up having ice cold air in the car/trucks, nothing like the cars today it seems.

My 2020 gets cold almost immediately. But I have the old fan speed and temperature dials versus the set temp setup

Even when we lived in Oregon where it is a lot cooler, it was pretty weak at start up.

Not sure why or how American cars are better at this but it's noticeable versus every other country.

Agreed. The two Silverado's I owned in the past, like I mentioned above...zero to morgue in 5-10 seconds, even the cars I've owned over the decades, all had no problem with the a/c kicking right in.
