800 Tundras coming tomorrow/Monday in Separate Allocation??

So I just chatted with a dealer who said another allocation will be happening tomorrow or Monday that is strictly Tundras only. Around 800 of them. He said they got an email from Toyota about it today and the Toyota rep confirmed in their store this afternoon.

Now, we know how dealers are... but if this is true it has to be made up of mainly all the rigs in the QC hold? Has anyone else heard of this? The guy couldn't even sell me one as I am too far away (I'm 17 miles from his store blah), but said to ping my local dealers and get in their ear.

I really hope its true so a lot of you guys who have been waiting months can get some good news!

Edit: He said this allocation was in addition to the one that hit today FYI.

 

The thing that stood out in your post is that your too far away to be sold to. How is 17 miles too far away?

Yeah, that's a thing here with a few dealers. However, this one has the tightest radius. The don't even sell to some parts of Portland he said. 3 that I know of like ththist. This dealer is in deep NE Portland and I am down in Tigard. 17 miles is over an hour drive right now if that helps paint the picture.

This is actually the 4th for sure (possibly 5th, but can't quite remember) dealer that I have found in OR that only sell to locals. To get Salem Toyota to talk with me I had to give them my parents info as they live in S Salem.

I agree it sounds crazy, but who wouldn't want to sell to everyone right now? Portland is fairly big and has quite a few dealers to begin with.

Edit: All 4-5 dealers could have been pulling my leg, but I doubt it ha Its happened to people on here as well.

 

Lol, my nearest Toyota dealer is 43 miles. I wonder if they would sell to me

 

Anyone looking for a capstone MGM in Ontario Canada. Dealership i placed my order at today has one coming next month. Currently unsold

 

Folks buying Capstones must have a lot of disposable cash for they are insanely priced.

 

Oakes Toyota in Greenville Mississippi has(as of today) unsold lunar rock TRD Pro coming in on allocation for MSRP. In order to reserve you must physically show up with a $2,000 deposit at the dealership. If you are out of state they charge $2,000 over, I was driving down from Tennessee when they called me back to tell me, I turned around and went home. Hope someone from here enjoys it!

 

Had a second dealer confirm this additional allocation of tundras. He thinks tomorrow (Friday) it will drop.

 

My dealer in Virginia said that the northeast region was getting a huge allocation of tundras. He got the list last Friday not sure when they’re actually dropping just that unfortunately what I’m interested in was not on it. They are getting 2 TRD Pros though.

 

Not interested in buying it, but may check it out if it lands nearby - where in Ont?

 

I am intrigued on how it takes 1 hour to drive 17 miles. And them not selling one to you is BS.

 

I think this is a dangerous practice dealers are doing and it’s just a matter of time before a discrimination suit is dropped on them.

 

Thats wild. I drove 3.5 hours from KC to Lincoln NE to get mine. I called every single dealer in the area trying to scoop one up. Only one I actually found available wanted a 10k markup (hard pass). Ended up lucking into this one because it was reserved for the salesman I bought it from, and he wanted a red one that happened to be allocated, so he just sold it to me instead.

 

Yeah, i am surprised, but it is a Portland dealer. I avoid that city like the plague and probably wouldn't even buy from them if they had a rig available. I hate that city so so much. I would have to drive through all of Portland to get to them and with traffic its over an hour per Google. We dont have the road systems to handle all the out of staters that moved here over the past 10-15 years.

 

Most have been very apologetic when they said they only can sell to locals (K Falls, Tonkin, and Hermiston were at least). A sell is a sell to me, but they don't need any help with that right now.

Doing the math, 800/50 is only 16 ish trucks per state so this may not really help much. The guy from Wilsonville Toyota texted me back at 9pm last night to say it was real

 

Capital Toyota in Salem was willing to sell to me. Three were on the lot I could have bought if desired. They were very helpful.

 

Uh, I live in SW PDFX and have shop in Tigard. I drive through Portland all the time. Doesn't take mean hour, lol! Just got to hit the traffic right.

 

Yup, correct. When I Googled it yesterday it was 58mins to 1hr 10mins due to traffic. Probably closer to 40mins for me this morning.

 

Same once i said i had a house in Salem ha Parents casa. First time I called them a few months back they told me they were only selling to people within either 20mins or 20 miles. One of the two. This last time the guy only said they were selling to locals only so i just told him I have a place in both Tigard and Salem. Didn't seem to care either way.

 

for what its worth, I just got an update from a dealership I'm next for a Pro at saying the latest allocation list was "slightly delayed" because Toyota was pushing through "extra Tundras"... So maybe there is some merit to the claim...

He also said not to hold my breath on a Pro being on the list this time around haha... Bastards...

 

Ha I guess the two dealers that told me this weren't blowing smoke up my bum! ha The original dealer that told me about this said their rep told them these Tundras were "found". As in they were lost is how he took it. Sure, Toyota "lost" some 800 Tundras... thats why i was skeptical to even post about this at first.

 

My only concern would be HOW they were able to squeeze out 800 extras... Hopefully not another round of QC issues coming up...

 

Grants Pass is also out for me. Locals only. Another one to add to the no go list.

 

I usually look for the best deal in all states. In 2021 to present all out of TX dealers will not sell me even a Corolla.

 

Same. Nearest Toyota dealer to me is 52 miles away. That's where I bought my 3rd Gen back in December.

If I was forced to shop "local" in my town, I would be limited to a tiny Chevy dealer and an even smaller Dodge/Ram dealership. [Shudders] Our local post office has a slightly larger parking lot than the Dodge dealership's new car lot. hahaha.

 

TIL salesmen are making up prices for folks hoping they'll pay more. I reached out to a dealer and didn't' realize it was one I was chatting with on FB messenger. The guy on FB said 3k adjustment, the salesmen that responded to my online inquiry said he just asked sales manager and it's 10k adjustment.

I'm wondering if there is a supply chain issue with some component on the TRD OR package. For a while they were fairly plentiful, but for the last several months they are pretty rare. Maybe the issue got resolved and they are finishing some builds with that package. Or....maybe that's package is the the truck I want and I'm getting tired of waiting....
