I have bilstein 6112 up front of n my tundra. Shocks have maybe 25k on them, trucks mostly stock with an exception of 35s and wheels and a rack out back with a tent. No real weight on the truck.

shocks are completely blown. Oil all leaked out and I know bilstein has a warranty department but I just wasn’t sure if anyone has gone they this before. Bilsteins site mentions me having to send them back for inspection and such which is kind of a pain but if they wanna warranty my shocks then I guess it’s gotta happen.

I had a rear break off where it mounts to the frame, I had to get the vendor to deal with the RA, buy another from the vendor, send the broken shock to Blistein, about a month later they "good willed" it as I had not sent the entire shock in due to the part that broke off being in the road wherever it fell off.

    Good luck.

I just had both my 6112s looked at and the repair guy said both were leaking. They look a lot like your picture. I thought it was just road grime. 37K on them. All city. Replacing with another set of 6112s since they are cheaper than the other high end shocks. Was there a good reason for your failures?

I've got 6112's with around 35,000 miles, one of them is leaking heavily. Time for something new.

I was diagnosing my ever enduring front end klunk and took it in to my trusted car shop guy. He stated your shocks look like they're leaking oil. I said what? I thought that was just road grime. They were coated with oil yet no obvious drips on driveway and had collected expected grime - 47K on them. I replaced with the same due to my desired ride height. Also, after the alignment my truck had lost that familiar klunking while steering low speeds!!!! I had been listening to that annoying sound for two years, unable to pinpoint it. Shop said alignment was way off and yes, could have (likely) been the source of the noise. I was pleased as punch. Thought I'd share in case anyone else is experiencing that awful klunk.

Blue label vs black label. They updated the line a year or so ago; old shock was blue label, new shock is black label. I’m told there are some minor tweaks to the black label but are nearly identical. Perhaps @memario1214 could weigh in. Physically, the bottom of the shock body is slightly different. Springs look identical and have the same resting height and I assume spring rate.

My blue labels made it 100k. Upon disassembly, I found the bushings to be shot but the shock body itself wasn’t making any strange noises or have any sticky spots like the matching 5160’s did. If you look closely you can see where the the top bushing is completely work through and it started wearing in to the metal top stem. The bottom mount bushing is also slightly eccentric but you won’t really see it in the photo.

Oh I wasn’t insinuating anything in particular. We just haven’t had a black label 6112 failure yet so I was just asking for data collection purposes is all.

OME would be very wise to get cracking on making the MT64s for the 2nd Generation Tundras!
They would sell like hot cakes especially from folks not wanting early blown 6112s again but want to be around the same price point.

Pics? The seal design dictates that the shocks weep around the seal to keep the piston rod lubricated. Thus, 6112's weep oil - which is intentional and accounted for in the design and oil fill - in normal operation. Sometimes this is mistaken for leaking, but if you have seen both, it is easy to tell the difference. The OP's shocks appear to be leaking (assuming the oil wasn't from something) whereas my blue label shocks were simply weeping (see post above) even though they accumulated plenty of filfthy road grime.
