Hello! I’ve been researching a lot but can’t find a solid answer so here goes nothing. I have a 2006 tundra that has a blown motor (rats get into timing cover and it jumped time and smashed some valves) and it’s got 300k miles and it’s time for a new one as well as a new transmission. I saw on fb marketplace that someone is selling a 4.7 from a 06 sequoia along with the transmission and transfer case. The transfer case has a shifter poking out of it for switching to high/low etc. and my tundra does not. I need to know if that transmission will still bolt on directly to the transfer case on my 06 tundra with no wiring/ tail shaft modifications. Any help/ tips are much appreciated! Thank you! I originally posted this on the intro forum but some people thought it might go farther here. Anything helps!

Hey man, I don’t have any experience with these engines/trans combos. I do know that the sequoia is closer to a dbl cab truck, so if you have an ac you’ll likely have issues with fitment of all kinds, from both big parts and little weird dodads. I’d start by getting good measurements to known points from your truck, then make comparisons with sequoia.

OP, do you have an Regular Cab (RC), Access Cab (AC) or Double Cab (DC)? Sounds like you have the 4.7 4WD? Any other details you could give would help.

Assuming different drivetrain (2WD Tundra, 4WD Seq), I would:
    • Not swap trans, motor only
    • Move everything - all sensors, EVERYTHING - from your original engine over to the new engine
    • Do the timing belt/water pump/tensioners while you’re in there
We’ve watched more than a couple of people beating their f’ l. face against their keyboard because they weren’t aware of wire/sensor variations between models, or simple wiring changes between them. Pinouts are different on certain sensors and such between years; and between Tundra/Seq as well, even with stuff like the throttle body assembly (wise to move that over too).
