Found one today and have got a handshake deal with the seller. Current owner purchased from the original owner, his father in law. All checks out although he did mention putting the truck in 4HI whenever he drove in the rain. He's only had the truck for a couple years, and this is southern california we are talking, about. But is this any concern? There is a small amount of cv grease sling, but looks old. Thanks

You're back!! Is this like your 4th 1st gen?

Driving in 4Hi in the rain is not a big deal. I do the same thing to help lube the actuators.

I put on 4HI while driving in the rain on pavement all the time.

It's not a problem as long as you're not making sharp turns. It's hot, dry pavement that's the killer. Wet roads will allow tires to slip as long as you're not turning more than 60deg or so.

I wouldn't be concerned. I mean, no reason you can't play it up like there's concern. The PO would've definitely heard popping and felt bucking if they turned too sharply. But that would've likely only happened with sharp turns at slow speed on totally wet pavement.

Looks like the perfect truck for you to buy and then sell within a year.

Oh - and it looks like a great find, and not just b/c it's a twin to mine. Other than the interior color (I'd have rather had tan) and the nerf bars (which I'd rather have - holler if you get it and get rid of 'em)

    Yep ^^

After cleaning up that paint and other little bits, totally. The OEM bedliner is still available from Toyota Parts. I have the part #.

That’s called having shitty tires with no traction in the rain and having no lsd. I tossed it in 4wd going around corners in the rain sometimes on the stock Bridgestones. With Michelins
    LTX, that issue went away.

I've driven tens of thousands of miles on the highway in 4WD....

    Its not a big deal.

My t4r manual said 10 miles a month in 4wd in low traction driving to keep everything lubed and working. Every time I drive my tundra in the rain or off-road I switch to 4wd.
