When I have the truck in 4H and backing into a parking space, it feels like I have parking brake on. Applied more gas the engine revved but it barely moved. This happened when the steering wheel turned about 360 degree. If the steering wheel slightly turned, it backing up fine.

    Is this normal?

If you're in a high traction scenario, yes. Your driveline is binding, you want to avoid this.

You should only use 4wd in rain or snow, mud, if you use it on dry pavement you will get a jerky movement and you could damage your drivetrain if you make sudden sharp turns.

You can use it on straight lines, (on dry pavement) and Toyota recommends 10 miles per month of 4WD to keep it lubed up

This happens to me when in rain/snow only because I am old and forget to turn the 4x4 off before I get off the straight roadway.

I thought 2H & 4H were basically the same; it was just 2- or 4-wheel in operation. I was about to bring the truck in for diagnostic.

    Thanks everyone for the input.

you would think a first time 4wd buyer would at least read the owners manual of a 4x4 system. i mean there is a whole lot of pages dedicated to the 4x4 system.

Couldn't agree more :). A few years ago, I was with a friend in his 4x4 showing how smooth it was switch from 2H to 4H while under 30mph. So I ASSumed 4H was just all 4 wheels powered. Thought I could do the 10miles as recommended while out running errands.
