Hey all. The 4.7 motor on my 07 SR5 gave up and I am looking for a replacement. I have been trying to research for the appropriate models and years for a replacement motor but have not been able to find a clear answer. I have found plenty of 4.7s in the 2000-2005 year range Tundras but have no idea if they would work with the current harness? I think the model year for my truck is 07-14 but not sure if that’s the parts on the motor or the whole block. I noticed the oil dipstick is on the other side on the older model years as well as a few other subtleties? Can anyone help clarify exactly what i am looking for in a motor or donor vehicle. Trying not to pull one motor only to find out the one i bought is the wrong one the hard way.
First five on the vin are 5TFRT
    Thank you
    -Don

You can use your vin number on car-part.com and it will show models and availability.

The air injection tundras and 4runner 4.7 v8 should be the same. But you might need to swap some stuff off your motor to make it work 100%

The 2000-2004 were different than 05-06 in the valves

is 05-06 different than 07-14 in the valves? if the block is the same I can save my self about a grand just swapping over the external components from my motor to the donor. I think i am more concerned about going to plug in the harness and not everything is there or it just doesn’t recognize the new components. I’d love to be able to go get a new motor but the rest of the truck is still old and the budget is not going to allow that. Not a great time to need a new truck

I keep finding motors that are listed as 5th digit “T” for the Vin which mine is but they are a different model year.

How did your 4.7 break on you? Those things among the greatest motors Toyota ever built.

Radiator failed and coolant ran really low without ever reading hot on the gauges. Fixed that changed fluids but i think it weakened something or bent a rod. So I was probably sitting on a time bomb. Then a few months later my harness clip fell off and the harness got chewed up by the serpentine belt. I think it jumped time on the hill when it stalled out from the wires because when it was repaired I could never get it back in time. Well when it started it ran rough then shot a rod through the oil pan. Toast.
