So I ordered a 4” Pro Comp lift and 35” Extreme MT2’s but having serious doubts that this will be enough.
I’m looking at probably going with the 6” lift and 37’s but need to know the cons for this move, exp:

    1) Will I need to change my gears? My truck has lots of power but this is a lot of extra weight...

    2) Is there more stress on the running gear and U joints when going with the 6” instead of 4” lift?

    3) Would adding extra power/torque through tweeking the computer be a good alternative to changing the gears?

    Thanks everyone!!

I dont know a WHOLE bunch, but i know for sure the 37’s alone will call for a re-gear. And im pretty sure adding more power wont help, the truck will still be shifting wrong, re gearing would be the best option no doubt

You will get just as many opinions if not more on the re- gear... lets not even get into the hypertech speedo calibrater.
Here is my .02. Re gear Should be done. Yes people run 37’s on stock gears but think how much power is lost just turning those tires. You “should” re gear at 35 too. If I recall correctly it’s a 5.29 gear set. There is rumor of one or two gear companies making a 5.88 that’s supposed to be out I think this spring. You are on the right track of trying to figure this out first before buying (with the exception of the 4” kit if you swap for the 6”).
I have been considering the gear swap with my truck but I don’t know yet if I am going to try and go 37’s on my next tires or just stay with 35’s.

Reprogramming your speedo is a personal preference. I got mine done almost immediately. Remember your speedo will be off a percentage NOT a set amount consistently. If you have it installed have them leave the cable attached and zip tie out of the way. This way if you want/need to make a small change you don’t have to go digging behind the dash again.

Good to know Matt. I’m thinking I will go for the 6” w/35’s.

That’s some really good info George...thank you!
I have the identical truck as yours (except the year). After seeing your pictures I’m definitely gonna do the same ,6” with 35’s

You can fit 37s with 4" lift with the right offset.
