I drive a new to me 22' tundra capstone. Got some pretty aggressive wind noise coming from driver and passenger side.

Using a decibel reading app, my truck at 68mph is about 4 to 5dB louder than my wife's Hyundai palisade. I'm wondering if its not because of this large gap between the top right of the front door and the top left of the back door. First picture is of the gap on my truck. Second picture is my wife's palisade.

Does everyone have his same gap? Has anyone attempted to fill this gap with double backed insulation tape? If so did it help with wind noise?

    Thanks everyone.

IMG_5580.jpg When you open the doors is there a verticle weatherstrip on the b-pillar?

Toyota may have added that on more recently.

    Here you go https://www.tundras.com/threads/wind-noise-concern.98646/page-22

Start by taping up all seams with paper tape to figure out where wind noise is coming from

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
I put AVS side window deflectors on my Tundra and I don’t hear any wind.

I have a friend who has a '23 GMC Canyon AT4X that he is at his wits end with. He does have a major wind noise problem. Through trial & error, he finally taped up the upper corners of his windshield. Across on the top & side like an "L" both sides. No more noise. Noise only came on at 70+ depending on the strength of the headwind on freeways. Absolutely driving him nuts. Dealer mum on the situation and won't do anything unless they can duplicate it and won't go out on the freeway when the traffic is clear for testing when there is no stop & go traffic. Found out all the windshields are installed by robots, so the windshields aren't all a tight fit due to robot error. So are Toyota's done the same way? Is anybody experiencing wind noise problems due to faulty windshield installs or just misalignment of doors and side windows? Before my buddy taped up his windshield, the noise was so loud, you couldn't tell where the noise was coming from.

My 24 has slight wind noise, I can't actually feel air coming in, just wind noise from outside. These trucks are not as insulated as a car, but it's OK in my book.

I have wind noise from my drivers side view mirror when going over 70+ on the freeway. I wasn't sure where it was coming from at first but when I was driving and heard it I closed the side mirrors and noise went away. It's not super annoying so I'll just bring it up on my next service visit.

ive complained about windnoise, first service, the service writer said they duplicated the concern, and will get the parts ordered so when my next service I can get it done.

next service, i bring it up, this time they decide to let a master tech drive with me, we did it in the rain, so of course when we came back he was like what noise, this is all normal, talked to the service writer after service (same guy) and he said yea you guys took it out in the rain so of course nobody can hear it from all the water and wipers and rain falling!!! his answer was bring it back a third time so we can do the same dance, i kept referring to wtf was written on 1st service and he says the 2nd service overwrites the first services symptons, and now is can not duplicate customer cocern bs....

i get high cross wind/whistle type noises anytime the truck is above 40+, once you get to hwy speeds 65+ the roadnoise does drown it out, I hear this everyday when I commute to and from work since the last stretch is about 45mph. Pretty annoying for a 54k+ truck, my 2010 camry was alot more quite and it had like 230k on it, not to mention none of the door/window seals were falling off like my new 22 tundra, I have the pics in the other thread

I had some wind noise coming from my drivers side front window. Right at the top corner closest to the seat belt. I realized if I pushed on the window the noise went away, and it occurred to me the seal that butts up against the window when it’s rolled up wasn’t sitting flush. It was like it needed something pushing from the outer part to sit more flush with the window. So I just pulled back the seal a bit, and then wedged a piece of paper towel in there, which pushed the seal tighter against the window.

Crazy, shouldn't have to worry about the little things with the money you have to spend just to purchase w/o the add on goodies you spend another arm and a leg on. Then the hassle to get the dealer and/or corp to fund the fix. But on the other hand, friends of mine who own 4X's of other makes are going through the same stuff. The reason I went to Toyota to start with back when you could depend on a trouble free vehicle. Only time will tell if Toyota gets back on track. Still a good truck.

I think it's just the way it is with vehicles these days. I had a Sierra before this, and it had all sorts of issues. Obviously the transmission issue is well known, and likely should have been a recall. I had mine go out at 60k miles. Thankfully I had purchased an extended warranty which covered it. I also had a water pump blow up on me, while towing my camper, which caused some damage to the manifold. Oh, and the engine block also had some strange oil leak from a faulty freeze plug (I think that's what they called it). Anyway, all of this on a truck that was less than 4 yrs old.

Prices do not reflect quality and inflation sucks. $48,000 in 2018 is worth $60,000 today and 48k was expensive back in the day but even those cars had some issues.
