Hey all, been scouring these forums for a year now for mods on my truck. I decided to make an account because I didn’t see a straight answer anywhere if a diff drop for icon 2.5 stage 7 install non-TRD tundra is necessary. I am going to be installing this myself. While I have extensive automotive working knowledge I know my limits and I wasn’t sure if the angles were aggressive enough to warrant a diff drop. Icon’s instructions say it’s recommended. Looking for an official answer. I heard for the TRD lift it is necessary because the angles are more aggressive than Icons, therefore the drop isn’t needed.

Thanks for any info you have and please feel free to give me any other tips and tricks before my install.

The answer is on the product page for the kit you're looking at.

    • APPLICATION NOTE #149: For 4Wd Models Without Trd Off-Road Package ICON Recommends Using ICON Diff Drop (Part# 55156) Or Using Toyota Trd Axles (Part# 434200C020 Driver / 434100C020 Pass). Failure To Do So Could Result In Front Axle Damage. Not Required For Trd Pro.

I saw that, I’ll order the CVs recommended and install once my stock CVs start clicking. I don’t like the idea of doing a diff drop.

    Thanks for the clarification!
