3rd gen camping / overlanding with MX4 cover

We installed the Bakflip MX4 cover on our crewmax Limited OR about a month and a half ago and love it! Now I’m looking at options to install a bed rack system to put a tent on top of, where you can still open that cover if needed. Is there anything like that or would we need to look at other options?

 

I have only done a little bit of research on this but to my knowledge the only ones that really works with the MX4, possibly with some modifications, are the Billiebars. The tallest tower they make is 8 inches though so I don’t think it would give enough clearance to open the tonneau fully.

 

Yea I haven’t found too much yet and I’ve been looking for a few days.

 

If you don’t mind drilling holes in the top of the bed (fenders), there are options. Look for a non-model specific option from a vendor. The problem seems to be that anything Tundra specific uses the factory bed tracks which won’t work with the MX4.

I have a MX4 and have been looking at a contractor rack that’ll bolt to the top of the bed (fenders)then modding it into a broverland rack from there.

 

Egh I’m not drilling into the truck, good way to void the warranty or at least allow them to get out of warranty work.

 

KB voodoo might be another option. They have a rail that sits on the bed side. Not sure exactly how it mounts but there is a video on YouTube of a guy with the voodoo rack and the mx4. Haven’t had a chance to watch it yet.
