Does anyone know if you need to remove the rear section of the headliner to swap out the 3rd brake light bulbs?
I have hot tail setup from @memario1214 and love it, but it also makes the 3rd brake light look weak.
I am thinking to get a set of VLED bulbs but am wondering if I just pull the cover and swap, or it has to be done through the rear headliner?

Bulbs can be replaced from the outside by taking the faceplate off

One quick question: Does anyone know the size/type of screw those 3rd brake light covers use?
Of course, clumsy me dropped it and it dropped into the ReTrax top box and unless I take the whole shebang off, I might be easier to just get a new screw.
Also, those OEM screws are some very non-weather proofed, does anyone recommend any type of screws for those? I silicone sealed this light so chances are I can only remove the screws and take the whole unit out next time....

Did you ever get an answer here? Swapped my bulbs out for LEDs and dropped a screw as well...

Never did, but I did seal the whole third brake light housing prior to putting it all back together, so far it hasn't had any problems (knock on wood) but I might need to find a screw or seal that screw hole from the outside to avoid water getting trapped inside.

Never easy! If helpful, I did just stumble across this from another forum and it appears to be the correct part #: 81579-0C050

Yeah especially since it's a Phillips head. I bet Lowes probably has the same size.

Exactly, I might even have it in my garage misc drawer, just need the head size and make sure the thread is long enough....

Yeah... I'm going to take one off tonight and swing by the hardware store. $25 screw with shipping ain't it... But, glad to have the part # for future reference.

I mean, my taco fiend installed a hitch on his new Subaru OB, and somehow it only comes with three screws but has six holes, he ordered them with Subaru and they charged like $.50 a piece, still a lot but WAY better than this.
