Went out on a limb and swapped out 26g for 38g in my 2011 Tundra 5.7L. I have issues with the fuel guage still reading as though the 26 gallon tank is still on board? The 38 gallon hardware was installed. I realize the 38's were not available until 2014. New to the site. Any ideas would be appreciated. Don't have any hair left to pull out!

For what it’s worth, my old VW doesn't have a gas gauge.

You learn to keep track the old way, with mileage counters, or you can try to make one of these- a gas tank dip gauge: 30D4A9BE-FA43-4149-BE0D-E7A083253DC1.jpg

I did the swap on my 09. The fuel sending unit has no idea how big the tank is it is based on a mechanical float arm. My guess is it’s not installed correctly or it’s bent or possible even a bad unit. Sometimes when the lid is not put on correctly with the tabs lined up the float will bind up on the side of the tank. Another thing that can happen the two springs guides that force the holding tank down for the fuel pump can get bent. and cause the float to be crooked and bind on the side of the tank. That happened to my Sequoia when we installed a hiflo fuel pump for the supercharge just in a hurry and was careless. When working correctly the gauge will work correctly. My advice take it back out and reinstall fuel pump assembly make sure float arm is not binding anywhere.
