Good morning good people. I am about to hit the 30K mark. I now what Toyota says I need to do at 30K, but from you knowledgeable people, what SHOULD I get done besides oil change and tire rotation? Thank you!

Definitely check the installation of the driver's floor mat! This cracks me up every time I see it. LOL

Yeah I remember the debacle that started it. Still funny to me every time I've had any of our Toyotas in the dealer for service.

You should drain/fill new tranny fluid at 30k then after every other oil change. It’s fairly easy to do yourself, I wouldn’t pay to have it done at the dealer.

the drain and fill only replaces a limited % of fluid, most is in the system and torque converter. One can just drain, measure and refill without dealing with the overflow procedure and getting things up to temp. I’m coming off a 3ed Gen taco and had no issues over 134k miles when I sold it to a family member.

I’m only at 22k on my rig but will attempt at 30ish.

@ryanwgregg can you elaborate on what GTS/GTS+ is when doing any ATF change? Is that something we can do ourselves?

Well that stinks. One of the reason I got the Tundra over others was so I could do my own trans filter change and refills etc. Never thought I would have to do a trans reset. Thanks for sharing though.

Do the front/rear diff and transfer case leave the trans alone for now

Has anyone documented this trans procedure that you know of? Would be great to have someone that has higher mileage document the work.

Be sure to re-fill the blinker fluid!
