Hey everyone, first post here and there is a TON to digest. I’ve got a 2016 limited 4x4 and I’m wanting to do a 3/2 lift on it. Im also wanting to keep the price a bit lower, maybe $5-600, and perform the job myself. With that being said I’m looking at ReadyLift/Rough Country spacer kits, or a Bilstein 5100 lift. Main questions are 1) why do the spacer lifts make the ride worse? 2) what other parts would I need for the 5100 install? 3) any other recommendations for other options?

The truck is on pavement 95% of the time, with the other 5% being on decently maintained dirt two tracks, so no REAL off-roading.

    Thanks in advance!

My only response after reading and experiencing needed changes to what was bought - adjustable coilovers.

+1 on coilovers. I've had the Readylift 3/2 spacer kit....never again. Rode terrible.....picked up every bump. Switching to my Toytecs was a night and day difference.

Any options for coil overs in my price range?

Toytec complete at the bottom of the page. That particular set isn't adjustable height wise but they are a descent set.

I don't know your price range. I only know that the initial cost increases when you have to make changes to suit your needs if your front is locked in. Doesn't matter if it's street / off-road or both. I would get bilsteins at the minimum, they give you options with the perch clips. Or just get King or Fox and never look back.

I should add, I'm first gen. Listen to guys like @Tundra234 first. But, really, the lessons are the same.

I just had the Bilstein 6112 coilovers installed and love them. I went with the fourth setting for 2.5 inches.

When it comes to installing Bilstein 5100s up front, do I need anything else? Or do I just use OEM coils? And then for a rear 2” lift just a block/U-bolt set up?

Also a quick side note, why are spacer lifts so rough? It seems to me that it wouldn’t change anything since it’s ABOVE the coil and not preloading it

I have a spacer 3/2 on my 2017 (the truck came with it). Didn’t realize how rough it rode until I got my 21 with no lift. Can’t speak to the difference with a different kind of lift but it’s definitely a hell of a lot rougher than stock.
